Former President Trump accepted President Biden's offer to debate him on television in June and September.
The proposal was outlined by the Biden-Harris campaign in a letter to the bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates on Wednesday morning.
It abandoned the decades-old tradition of three fall meetings organized by the debate commission.

Why do we even need debates anymore? This stuff has become ceremonial stuff the public doesn’t care about. The public gets its information from podcasts and other online venues.
Debates reek of academy awards nonsense where people in power treat these events like a social function. They gather together to be seen and heard. The political class garbage where they impress each other with their wit; commenting on the performance of candidates.
That is a field of battle populated by the public’s enemies. They have the means to manipulate words and to craft a media blitz to *try* to manipulate the public.
Better to starve that media-political industry by not debating in that environment. Don’t wage war on the enemies prepared battlefield.
*IF* there are swing voters anymore... go to where they get their information, which to me seems to be more likely online areas.
Yup!
You nailed it. Obama must tremble every time there’s a mic near Biden.
And Trump is playing into that by setting such low expectations for the drooling half-wit
I really can’t imagine a worse venue than a CNN moderated studio debate
I am surprised how many Never-Trumpers and TDS sufferers there are here. Plants?
But it is FREErepublic - So, let them hang out, be labeled, and soon be ridiculed.
We don’t want them banned - as in 2015.
Early voters tend to be much more highly partisan anyway. I doubt too many minds would be changed by a debate
Put the bong down, drugs are making you insane.
Paging Donna Brazille
Remember she gave copies of the debate questions to Hillary Clinton prior to the debate.
Any moderator from the mainstream media will likely do the same for Biden. It’s already rigged before it even starts.
June 27th and September 10th. CNN for the first, who for the second?
I'd prefer something like an embalming sheet. But, that's me.
I think that the key to Trump will be to keep his cool and to concentrate on the facts, particularly Biden’s policies and record. Trump did himself no favors last year during the first debate in which he was uncontrollable, interrupted constantly, used much more than his allotted time, and acted like a blankety-blank. That is the only way that he would lose these debates. Biden obviously is now mentally impaired. A quiet, reasoned approach by Trump with facts and with rejoinders to stupid things that Biden says will win the day for him.
BTTT
I will watch it for the entertainment value.
But it will quickly get sad when Biden forgets where he is. It will be funny for a short time and then you just feel sorry for the poor old guy.
Trump should practice saying "That's not true, Joe".
I heard this morning on the radio that Plugs is demanding an audience-free venue.
Trump should absolutely not agree to that at all.
Neither debate will happen. Biden is too far gone and his handlers know it. This is all a show for Biden’s base. The excuses for backing out are plentiful for the so-called President.
I agree with you, but the sympathetic press would say that Biden needs his hearing aids and you’re just being mean.
We haven’t had a genuine debate in this country in generations.
Yep- i heard that too- once again, liberals get to call all the shots- to ‘stack the deck’ so to speak
Biden: "No, Ukraine needs another billion!"
Trump: "No, Israel needs another billion!"
