Californians are fleeing to a rich southern enclave. Locals aren’t happy.

Every year, former Republican congressional candidate Paul Chabot hosts a welcoming ceremony at a barn in North Texas that draws hundreds of people.

There, barbecue vendors, military recruiters and line dance instructors indoctrinate their new neighbors, teaching them about their new home and the Southern lifestyle. After the festivities, the county sheriff hands them a red, white and blue certificate declaring them honorary Texas citizens. When these families sign their names and recite their oaths, they must not only “swear loyalty” to the Lone Star State, but profess that “there is no finer, greater or better place on the planet.”

For Conservative Move — Chabot’s company dedicated to “helping patriots escape liberal states” — this is all part of the plan to relocate Orange County residents to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, a sprawling region in North Texas that’s home to more than 8 million people. Real estate agents in the area told SFGATE that two cities in particular, though, have attracted a number of self-described “political refugees” who fled liberal California during the height of the pandemic.

Since their arrival, home prices in the area have nearly doubled, and agents said that despite local pushback, so many Californians are moving to the region that they’re creating a new subculture entirely.

Californians are moving to ‘New Texas’ in droves

Frisco and Plano, two wealthy enclaves in Collin County, have become hot spots for coastal Californians. In 2019, the median sale price of a single-family home in Frisco was just $400,000, but it’s since risen to about $700,000 as of March 2024, Redfin data shows — a 75% increase. Most people who recently searched for Frisco-area homes on the platform hail from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and New York.

Yup, pretty much describes exactly what I did - except I moved out of the Bay Area, not Orange County. The North Dallas area is exploding in growth, and since Plano/Frisco are already built out, the same growth is coming to Prosper and Celina.

Those skits are hilarious. I have an idea for another one: Columbia student Amy brings her new beau Muhammad home to meet the parents.

Some of this in parts of Colorado although Denver is a dumpster fire. We own a home north of Denver with our son. We bought it in 2019 and it’s gone up in value 50%.

A California conservative is a limp-wristed “moderate” in Texas. Sorry, we’re full!

Horrifying. And everyone says they are conservative... but they are not. Large numbers of them relocated with companies that moved there. And they bring wives, daughters etc.

The woke is pouring in.

They are ruining Texas. And Abbott, Perry, and other jackasses who ran around recruiting New Yorkers, west coasters, etc killed Texas with a slow acting poison.

“profess that “there is no finer, greater or better place on the planet.””

As a wise man once said: “If I owned a mansion in Texas and an outhouse in Hell, I would rent out the mansion and live in Hell.”

As long as these are mostly conservatives who will vote accordingly, I see this is as a good thing.

Some (not all) Californians who describe themselves as "conservative" do so in the context of California. They are often nice people, but they do not get what is happening. Maybe with time . . .

“Horrifying. And everyone says they are conservative... but they are not... The woke is pouring in.”

It’s amazing how many people are completely (and willfully?) blind to this fact.

They think that just because “muh one neighbor who moved here from Californy is conservative!!!”, they can extrapolate that huge sample size (1) to the rest of the state and conclude that Texas is as “red” as ever.

The facts already prove otherwise, and the extrapolators are going to get a serous case of whiplash from being blindsided as hard as they are going to be.

The Gipper would be horrified if he were alive to see the cesspool that California has become. Remove the “conservatives” and any chance for improvement is a long way off.

The new houses on the land my cousins sold out are going for 350,000$ and up.
They’re cheap looking claptraps on postage stamp lots built by illegals.
My house is a 1967 1400ft ranch on 1 acre and it would go for $125,000 Accord to the tax estimate.
But I ain’t selling.

Property taxes are expected to go up next year by 5%

And Oregon... And Idaho... And Montana.

And those who think it is “conservatives” it ain’t. The small towns I grew up in were inundated with the californicators. Sure, some will say, “Oh I left because of the taxes and politics” but they will still vote liberal. First thing... “Art night” Second... “Green spaces... Third... “Bike lanes.” And the final sign of infestation, Roundabouts.

When I visit Texas, I find it striking that Texas flags are flown everywhere—from private homes and businesses, and I have even seen huge Texas flags painted on the walls of apartment buildings. I don’t see that sort of patriotism in other states. Here in California, you only see California state flags on government buildings.

Yes! They went Roundabout crazy in Wisconsin. One rural location had three in a row! Guy, guys, do you really think large combines and other farm equipment do well on those things?

I was actually working at Wisconsin DOT, so I asked about this aloud (though I was in IT, nowhere near the engineers or policy decision makers). The first response was "They do it in Europe!" ARGGGGGGGGH!

Don’t move to Florida!
Consider these life-affecting factors:
Gators are on a rampage.
Snakes are everywhere.
Lizards falling out of trees.
Mosquitoes the size of B-52’s.
Real estate market crash coming. (maybe in 20 years)
I hear Ohio is nice this time of year.
