Not exactly. The 12th Amendment says that Electors from a state cannot cast their votes for both President and VP if both are from their state; they could vote for one, but not the other. In practical terms it does mean that to get elected President & VP must be from different states, but there is no prohibition of their being from the same state.

Not quite. Constitution claims President and VP can’t both receive electoral votes from the same home state. If both can win without both getting those electoral votes it’s perfectly fine for them to be from the same state. If, for example, Trump were from ND and picked Gov. Bergum for VP, ND’s 3 electoral votes might not make much difference. Vote rich FL is another matter, unless one is sure of a landslide. In 2000 Dick Cheney officially moved from TX back to WY. Had he not we’d have had President Bush and VP Lieberman.

No. There would be an issue re the Electoral votes, but it isn’t a prohibition.
