Gov. DeSantis raises the minimum age for strippers

Gov. Ron DeSantis has approved legislation that would end the ability of people under 21 years of age to work in adult entertainment establishments.

DeSantis signed the measure (HB 7063) in Coral Gables. That legislation was amended to lift the age limit for performers and other employees of adult establishments from 18 to 21 by absorbing another bill (SB 796).

DeSantis said this legislation was part of ongoing efforts to “combat human trafficking,” contending the problem has gotten worse in recent years due to “Mexican cartels” benefiting from the “open” border.

Human trafficking is a scourge on our society that has been worsened by our open southern border. Florida is being proactive in the fight against it.

Today I signed HB 7073, which increases penalties for entities who engage in human trafficking and requires facilities in Florida to facilitate the recognition and recovery of trafficked individuals.

Additionally, I’m approving funding in the budget to expand access to emergency beds for adult survivors of human trafficking and to launch a grant opportunity to enhance training for law enforcement officers who respond to human trafficking incidents. pic.twitter.com/sHoHrmcEZY— Ron DeSantis (@GovRonDeSantis) May 13, 2024

Perhaps someone can explain the legal reason for the continued laws moving legal adulthood from 18 to 21. Politicians in both parties keep doing it, from this issue to gun restrictions to tobacco, etc. Why?

I don't know, but they should raise legal adulthood to 40 for many young idiots. A lot of them are still dependent on mom and dad, and act like angry toddlers.

We are either adults at 18 or 21. What is it going to be? You can still die in a war for the big guy but you can’t dance on a pole?

Because you can make political hay off of screwing the 18 to 20.998 YO group and never pay for it at the voting booth.

If you are old enough to enter a contract you are old enough for EVERYTHING.

I tend to agree. This being said, there's just something weird about a high school girl being able to dance nude in a strip bar (as many did when I was in high school).

They should probably raise the age to do porn to 21 as well. How can they say an 18-year-old does not possess the maturity to make such life-changing decisions as drinking a beer but they can get railed by five dudes on camera which will then be displayed on the internet forever?

It's weird to think that during Vietnam, the draft age was 18 but the voting age was 21.

Because the people, through their representatives, can legislate morality— or made the damned effort to do so.

“Perhaps someone can explain the legal reason for the continued laws moving legal adulthood from 18 to 21. Politicians in both parties keep doing it, from this issue to gun restrictions to tobacco, etc. Why?”

There’s something about today’s generation, it might be nutritional it might be chemical. Cultural, social. Societal, drug related, developmental... planned, behaviorally conditioned and controlled.

I think it has to do with the development of the frontal lobe. I don’t believe that the frontal lobe is developing at a rate in previous generations plus a large number of this trash is morally blankrupt.

We don’t need to enlist 18 year olds, 21 is just fine. I think we need to enhance the physical education and health classes in schools because nobody’s in shape and they’re just a bunch of blobs... it’s has to be a chemical reaction to the lack of nutrition or the garbage that they’re ingesting... plus the drugs that they’re taking both prescribed and street

Maybe it’s a conditioning for a another Roosevelt type of socialist activism, CCC, labor camps, all for the name of restoring the nation. But this time it will be more along the lines of Stalin or Mao as cultural revolutionaries are brought into the system even though over time has proven it morphs into a self-defeating methodology.

If we're doing that, we should not allow anyone to join the military until you've turned 21. Your frontal lobe is not developed yet anyway so you shouldn't be in a position to decide to sacrifice for your country when you're 18.

I think that's BS. Life used to be tough. Now everyone is spoiled in the decadent West. Everyone wants to be an adolescent indefinitely.

Because they sit around trying to come up with new laws on the easy stuff and leave the hard stuff alone. Then they have daily press conferences to congratulate themselves. This is their schicht.
