I added a little work cubicle in the garage. At 6 feet wide there is still 6 inches left to park the van. It is perfect for my office space - but I can’t imagine trying to live in something this narrow!
Could buy a motor home instead. Although I doubt they have RV parks in the DC area.
I visited friends that had parked their MH at a nice RV park while he finished up a project. The commute to downtown was only 20 minutes.
It was well kept and had a place for long term residents (some had lived there for years) and a section for short-term (one-month minimum IIRC) parking spots.
They were there for about 6 months and had become good friends with their neighbors. It was a pretty cool place.
There are some brilliant ‘tiny home’ designs now. Certainly not for everyone, but very nice for one person, maybe a single retiree, who doesn’t want a lot to deal with:
