President Trump would do whatever he could to encourage more oil drilling in the U.S., so the improved regulations would come whether they ponied up dough or not. He has to get elected first, so donating money to candidates who are likely to do what you want them to do is what campaign fund-raising essentially is.

Unfortunately, I don’t believe re-electing President Trump is going to solve any of these problems unless he is willing to use all of the powers inherent to his office.

The Dem reasoning is absurd. A candidate’s public promise at a fundraiser to carry out declared policies that will benefit an affected industry if he elected is not corrupt. It is normal politics.
