PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — The Vodou faithful sing, their voices rising above the gunfire erupting miles away as frantic drumbeats drown out their troubles.
They pause to swig rum out of small brown bottles, twirling in unison as they sing in Haitian Creole: “We don’t care if they hate us, because they can’t bury us.”
Shunned publicly by politicians and intellectuals for centuries, Vodou is transforming into a more powerful and accepted religion across Haiti, where its believers were once persecuted. Increasingly, they seek solace and protection from violent gangs that have killed, raped and kidnapped thousands in recent years.
The violence has left more than 360,000 people homeless, largely shut down Haiti’s biggest seaport and closed the main international airport two months ago. Basic goods including food and life-saving medication are dwindling; nearly 2 million Haitians are on the verge of famine.

I’m curious, how do they get Haitians to take an IQ test? And who records the scores and calculates the average?
Vodou?
Since when is it spelled that way?
“New Hampshire’s average IQ is 103.2 (highest in the US), yet both of their senators are Democrats.”
Would you rather live in NH or Haiti?
But your observation is not without merit. So the question is, what makes seemingly smart people make dumb decisions?
Scandinavian countries also have quite high IQ yet have talked themselves into “welcoming” turd-world rapefugees so they could virtue signal themselves as compassionate, “moral superpowers”.
Maybe there’s a do-gooder, emotional component separate from IQ that’s the cause. Women are particularly susceptible to this.
Which could lead someone to conclude that maybe the 19th amendment wasn’t such a good idea after all. It definitely explains the wussification of our country.
How different would our country be without the 19th amendment?
Societies are either held together by religion or torn apart by it depending on the teachings of that religion. A society with no religion would be aimless and go nowhere. Also full of crime and self centered. That nagging question for humanity is why are we here and what is it all for in the end. Is there any lasting purpose at all. Is it all for nothing.

Says more about the tests than about the people.
Those enfranchised by the Nineteenth Amendment had no influence on some of the most damaging amendments such as the Sixteenth and Seventeenth, never mind associated legislation. Nor is there a sex-linked dichotomy between conservative and liberal legislation, or conservative and liberal court decisions (e.g. the Warren court was all male and, before 1967, all white as well).
Nice cherry picking.
And you didn’t answer my question. Would you rather live in Haiti or NH.
Or more generally, a country with a higher IQ or one with a significantly lower IQ?
The correlation between IQ and success in life is very high.
The proof is all around you if you only opened your eyes.
If I remember my history, real or myth, did not the original slaves sell their souls to the devil in order to overthrow the French?
Embracing voodoo, what could possibly go wrong?
Peach
Question was irrelevant to IQ, which has no bearing on quality of life anywhere. The factor there is morality, and any place where Christians outnumber voodoo practitioners would be superior there.
I lived in Miami, very near to a small Coconut Grove community graveyard.
Now and then, the graves would be dug up nights to gather the necessary bones: skulls being the most sought-after.
If you were a witness in a criminal court case against a Haitian, nearing the courthouse, one had to step carefully over precisely aligned dead guinea fowl and corn kernals.
I asked a police detective why a clothing iron was collected in a home-invasion robbery/extortion case. He said the offender used it against the flesh of a victim to torture information out of them.
The subjects were former Haitian “Ton-Ton-Macoute”.
But polite.
Yikess. Glad I don’t live in FL now. Love there, but my daughter is here in Spokane.
Haiti is around 90+% Christian. Way, way more than NH or Vermont
Voodoo (spititists) about 3%
Look it up and then go to that Christian country - you’ll have the time of your life.

You really have to be dense to think that IQ doesn’t make a difference in the quality of life. May I suggest you stop living in your little made up world and start facing reality. It will do you good, I promise.
