They’ll have to take my gas-powered car out of my cold dead hands.
Electric vehicles will never be practical transport until anyone can walk into Walmart and buy a Mr. Fusion to power it.
Good for Toyota and Honda.
Ford lost $132,000 on every electric vehicles they sold in Q1. It was so bad that even CNN reported it!
And then we have Hertz dumping its inventory of EVs. A slew of used Teslas have hit the Hertz car sales website after the company announced Thursday it planned to sell off 10,000 more electric vehicles from its fleet than originally planned, bringing the fire sale’s total to 30,000.
Perhaps one of the reasons you can get such a good deal on a Tesla at Hertz right now is that the outlook for EV value retention is pretty grim at the moment.
go woke go broke...
I have a cost-cutting proposal for Ford MisManagement; give me $20,000 and I promise never to buy one of your EV’s. An $80,000 savings!!
A class action lawsuit should be brought by the stockholders against the board of directors for failure to uphold their fiduciary responsibilities.
Idiots leading the company. Mechanics top 2 don’t own brands are Dodge and Ford. Maybe Ford needs to work on that.
Which is akin to saying.. "If things don't CHANGE, they'll stay the SAME!"
Signing over to the government is like accepting a friendly mafia hand, it eventually ends up to a torching
Guess that will teach em not to be up Dementia Joe’s ass.
Herd instinct. The stupid hurts.
The business is losing money big time. Sounds like Ford should hire Paulie Walnuts to burn down the EV plant after midnight and collect the insurance
Other than Tesla anyone that has invested in EVs in the US has lost money whether it be the manufacturer, dealer, businesses like Hertz buying them, the taxpayer, etc. The government mandating their use is mandating the public to take losses.
Billions in losses on a product almost no one wanted. It’s their own stupidity. They probably expect the govt to bail them out.
The Glass House is shattering.
Ford needs someone who knows that EVs are not going to be profitable today. I guess their accounting department must have listened to LIBERALS and hired IDIOTS who believes math is racist! 🤓
Many companies are now following Toyota’s approach, Ford included, on selectable gas/hybrid/electric. Basically, a hybrid with a bigger battery.
I have a Toyota hybrid now. It is nice and smooth. Toyota is transitioning their fleet away from large displacement engines. Tundra is now a 3.4L Twin Turbo Hybrid. The old 5.7L V-8 had ~385HP. The new platform has 440HP. It is wicked quick, but you can feel it start laying down at higher speeds. Not at all surprising. There is no replacement for displacement.

There’s a lesson here, but apparently it is still to be learned by those most concerned. People who bought these things also need to be concerned if the EV program is (hopefully) dropped as they will then be the owners of “orphans”. Now that’s not all bad but these “orphans” may not have the benefit of parts sources that existed with other previous orphans like Edsels, Studebaker, etc.
