A Gathering of Russians Kilometers From the UKR Defense Lines

Russian forces have attacked across the Ukrainian border to the north of Kharkiv in a potential effort to open a new front in the war and intensify the pressure on Ukraine’s second city.
Ukraine’s defence ministry said there had been “an attempt by the enemy to break through our defence line using armoured vehicles” at about 5am on Friday near the town of Vovchansk, and the initial attacks had been repelled.
There were also reports of fighting in the border villages of Strilecha, Pylna and Borysivka farther west, and that Russian forces had advanced by about 1km around Vovchansk, though these could not be confirmed.
Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, said his country’s forces had been ready for the attack. “Ukraine met them there with troops – brigades and artillery,” he said at a press conference in Kyiv, though he warned that Russia could send more troops to support its fresh attack.
The influential Russian military blogger Rybar described the attack as a “reconnaissance in force” rather than a full-scale assault, and described the battle zone as being expanded to “a depth of 2-3km” in some border areas. Attacks were aimed at Ukrainian artillery points to weaken defences, the blogger added.
Russia has been gradually intensifying military operations around Kharkiv over the past month, taking advantage of limited Ukrainian air defences to bomb in and around the city in an attempt to persuade more of its 1.3 million residents to flee and turn it into an increasingly depopulated grey zone.

You’re impressed because towns were destroyed during a long fight.
Let me give you a little strategic insight.
Effective militaries achieve quick victories, without destroying population centers.
The Russians have taken even years to capture some of these towns, explaining why they were destroyed.
The Russians have 50,000 troops massed on that border. They may not take Kharkiv but if they throw them into the battle it will decide the war one way or another.
50,000 poorly trained conscripts.
Although, if they have to attack, now's the time. While Ukraine is low on weapons. Otherwise, they may have to wait a year or two for their next opportunity.
The Russians most certainly ARE NOT engaging in those kinds of attacks.
They don't have to. The air superiority and huge advantage in ammo and missiles.
That you're even making that claim is laughable.
So, all you care about is killing Russians and don't care how many more Ukrainians are dying, how much more territory Ukraine loses or, ultimately, if Ukraine ceases to exist?
Because that is all is being accomplished by Ukraine continuing this war.

In the end…..matters not, war is war. Make no mistake, Vlad isn’t giving up his ethnic Russian provinces, ever.
The West simply can not understand Russia’s resolve and their campaign based on attrition. The West has no stomach for attritional losses, the Russian Federation is united in this war against the West.
There appears to be no right or wrong- just “ winning”- which side loses the least….and with Ukraine’s cities, infrastructure and economy in total ruins, it is obvious who is “ losing the least”.
