The race of the victims doesn’t make a difference to me, but since the subject was brought up by the OP and there seems to be some confusion...
A search brought up their voter records, which list both victims as “white, non-hispanic.”
The confusion is understandable. My own appearance and last name confuses some people. If I had to guess with that photo and the last name, I would’ve guessed “mixed” in some way.
All that matters is that a cold-blooded killer murdered two people. Over a basketball net. He took two parents away from those children forever.

Voter records also list the killer - he’s registered as a Republican.
I know that in Colombia, Jones is pronounced as if it were spelled Ho-nez.
I expect it’s the same in any Spanish speaking country.
