Target is once again in hot water over its handling of its LGBTQ+ merchandise.
The company announced Thursday that it will only offer its Pride Month collection online and in select stores. The move comes after Target faced criticism and calls for boycotts from conservatives last year over its related merchandise during Pride celebrations and into the holiday season.

The company announced Thursday that it will only offer its Pride Month collection online and in select stores. The move comes after Target faced criticism and calls for boycotts from conservatives last year over its related merchandise during Pride celebrations and into the holiday season.
According to a statement, the brick-and-mortar Target stores that will be selected to carry LGBTQ+ merchandise—including adult apparel, home goods, foods and beverages—will be decided "based on historical sales performance." It also plans to spotlight LGBTQ-owned brands during Pride Month both in stores and online.
The announcement has sparked renewed backlash for the retailer, with many people accusing Target of giving in to pressure from the conservative-led boycotts. As Newsweek previously reported, Target's share price took momentary dips in May and June 2023 after the calls for boycotts began, but ended the year with a 7.46 percent increase on its share price.
"Cool. So we're just giving into hate now, @Target?" Senta Moses, an American actress, posted to X (formerly Twitter), adding, "This is gross."

Anyways, this is what happens when you try to play both sides of a situation - Target should have doubled-down on the woke, they will never get many normal customers back no matter what they do from here on.
Gotta love having Target putting themselves into a no-win situation.
Target gets to decide between customers who chose to stop shopping there, or customers who probably don’t shop there but would make life miserable to Target employees and those customers who do shop there.
The local (Reno) ads I have seen for TARGET are calling it “CIRCLE”.
Homo “ home goods, foods and beverages”?
Please enlighten me..
About TIME they gave in to CONSERVATIVE (or, non-liberal) pressure!
Anyway, I won’t hold my breath. Still going to feature things in person for being processed by homos?
My store will probably have it!
BTW, what is a “homo food item”?
No one ever wins with liberals. It’s n ever good enough. These damn coros should learn that.
Exactly.
Bad meat in the can?
They should not sell that crap, period. I don’t trade there, ever.
Target also announced that it will not sell “Pride” apparel targeted at children. That’s what these groomers are most upset about.

You know, cucumbers, hairbrushes, beverages in long thin bottles. That sort of thing.
I don’t even know why Target exists. It’s not particularly money saving to go there. The grocery section is rubbish. Like the old Shopko, Target never seems to have what I’m shopping for. Haven’t been there since they banned the bell ringers.
I’ve heard nothing but “Pride” this and that for years - when is “pride MONTH” over?
You sound like me. I just want June to go back to being just June, and not a sick perverted month.
Whenever anybody in the media or financial world comments about Target or Bud Light and their loss of customers they talk about “boycotts” or “political football”.
This badly misses the point. The problem with Target is that they lost touch with their customer base. Offensive merchandise and “woke” are just rhetorical symptoms of a company whose marketing division is made up of different folks than their end-purchase customers.
The marketing folks are confused by this. They float “adjustments” and marketing changes— in-store vs. on-line, etc. This won’t help, of course. If you don’t know what the problem is, a fix is hard to find.
The passage of time won’t help either. Out of touch marketing is bad in every way, not just the headline difficulties.
I was at Walmart in Porter Ranch, Calif (San Fernando valley, 25 miles from downtown LA) and have seen 2 guys with rings hanging from their nose and rings in ears and a woman with buzz cut on the sides and high hair on top with jewelry ring on side of nose.
Today I saw one of the guys, he had no ring in his nose this time but did have earrings. I wonder if Walmart is getting complaints?
You’re telling ME.
June 7 is my birthday. Back in the ‘90s (Gay Nineties) I found out Disney was having Gay Day and it generally falls on my birthday weekend. What a great feeling. At least it also coincides with my beloved (formerly, until they went woke) horse-racing at the Belmont Stakes.
Additionally, Father’s Day and my dad and sister’s birthdays, latter generally FD. So it’s very offensive but they were all dead by Endless Riots when LGBT took major hold along with BLM.
