Pretty much anything you can make with shrimp, you can make with cicadas.

My barn cats seem to be enjoying them, and actually have cut back on eating cat food since the cicadas emerged, but I think I will pass.

Cicada recipes pop up every time a 13 or 17 year Brood appears. I saw recipes in Cincinnati when Brood X appeared in 1987, 2004, and 2021, this is nothing new.

At the last Cicada deluge a simpleton in Cincinnati ate a bunch of the critters and died. Will WKRP be dropping them from a helicopter over a grocery store parking lot?

I’ve (long ago) done survival trips - 24, 48, 72 hours where you’re dropped off in the middle of nowhere with a knife, a flint and a pancho.
I know how to get water in the desert, trap animals with a figure four deadfall, have eaten rattlesnake and rabbit and even grubs below a fallen log.
But things would really have to be bad before I eat cicadas.
