State leadership and delegation chairs from several Libertarian Party chapters, including those in Florida, California, Colorado, Tennessee, Minnesota, Vermont, Nebraska, and the District of Columbia, have extended an invitation to independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr., urging him to seek the Libertarian Party’s presidential nomination.
The letter, published on Friday by Libertarians for Kennedy and signed by various party leaders, including an alternative region representative on the Libertarian National Committee, urges Kennedy to seek the presidential nomination of the Libertarian Party, with the understanding that the undersigned would consider voting for him in the first round if he accepts. Notably, the signatories clarify that the letter is not intended to be seen as a formal endorsement.
“Understanding your interest in the Libertarian Party presidential nomination and the shared concerns we have with the direction of the country that you highlight in your presidential campaign and the solution that only free market capitalism can bring, offer this letter as an invitation to you to seek the Libertarian Party presidential nomination,” the letter reads. “Should you agree to seek the presidential nomination, the undersigned will consider voting for you as the party’s nominee on the first or subsequent elimination rounds of voting until a candidate receives the majority vote of delegates. This letter is not construed as an endorsement.”

To receive an invitation like that -- how can anyone refuse?
I could see him running as a liberaltardian.
It probably would get him less votes than indie
He’s no libertarian.
He isn’t close to being Libertarian.
He’s certainly no Libertarian. Kennedy was having problems getting on the ballots in all 50 states so running on the Libertarian ticket would solve that. He’s gotten little media attention to date and most of what he has got from the MSM just portrays him as an antivaxxer kook. Unless he can garner attention or get the other candidates to debate him he’s unlikely to get many votes.
News flash - him disliking the COVID vax and forced shots does not make him a libertarian.
They don’t get it
But I see this as a desperate attempt by the Libertarian Party to become relevant in 2024.
Kennedy is the third ranked candidate in polls (way ahead of Jill Stein and Cornel West). The LP would like to glom onto that third place.
By their nature and natural distrust of politics and hierarchies, organizing Libertarians is like herding cats.
There are well-known figures they follow and deeply respect, but organizing a mass movement is difficult for Libertarians
IMHO the consequence means political climbers and charlatans who could barely be described as "libertarian" can get into bureaucratic "leadership positions." These folks then get to play at politics and do crazy stuff like "nominate" leftists like RFK Jr.
Libertarian was always my alternative to having to vote for McCain in AZ I could not stand the guy but I was not about to vote for his Democrat opponent. So, I used the Liberterian line as my trash can to throw away my vote. Kennedy is no libertarian. He is a tried and proven liberal Democrat. As such, I would not even vote for him on the libertarian line
Since the DNC needs someone to replace Biden, no surprise if Kennedy was paid off to replace Biden. Dems already paid off the Kennedy Clan to support Biden. Biden is slipping fast mentally.
He’s neither Republican nor libertarian.
I thought he had already changed to being an independent.
“What should my deeply held beliefs be this week?”
Why doesn’t Trump seek the Libertarian nomination?
I think there’s far too much tendency in this forum to surmise, on a complete lack of evidence, that people’s action are motivated by cash payments. The Kennedy family, though of course the wealth is not evenly distributed, is estimated to be $1.2 billion https://www.irishcentral.com/culture/how-much-kennedy-family-worth.amp They’re just not collectively short of cash
I’m not saying it never happens, but I go by the adage that, when you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras. More likely party elders reached out and convinced them, since Bobby can’t win, duty requires them to circle the wagons for Biden
Oh They get it. The losertarions are a rat tool. They have thrown numerous races to the Dems, half of the time their candidates are nothing but rat plants
Running for the Libertarian nomination is an admission a person has no political future and is a political has been.
