A man who was arrested during the Columbia University protests on Tuesday is also accused of stealing and burning an Israeli flag during a Manhattan protest last month, police and sources said Thursday.
James Carlson, 40, of Brooklyn, was arrested Wednesday and charged with criminal mischief, arson, and criminal possession of stolen property in connection to the April 20 incident, according to the NYPD.
Carlson allegedly took the 22-year-old man’s Israeli flag and lit it on fire during a protest near West 116th Street and Amsterdam Avenue at around 10 p.m., authorities said.
The victim followed Carlson and two accomplices into the crowd when one of the accomplices threw a rock at the man’s face, police said. The victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.
The other two suspects have not been arrested, police said.
Sources said Carlson was among the protesters arrested at Columbia University Tuesday night. He was charged with criminal trespassing.
Carlson was arraigned in the flag and protest incidents on Thursday and released without bail, according to court records.

Kill him.
Yeah I’ve got a friend like that- his mind is truly going- and he goes on tangents about many different topics- I guess we gotta give folks like that some leeway- knowing that their mind isn’t right anymore, but out and out racists and antisemites who rant and rave, then no- I would not continue friendship with them.
My friend is the type person that corners folks and rants about everything-most have broken off friendship with him, others like me just keep our distance as best we can, if cornered I try to endure the rants, and move along as soon as possible.
He’ll have land...
But I don’t think I can even stand to visit him these days
😄😆🤣😹😁
It will take a miracle and drying out to fix him I think

“My friend called me last night and spent about 20 minutes railing on the Jooz..”
You need a better class of friends.

I’m hoping Laz can come through with the robots

The “United States Flag Store” sells 3x5 foot Israeli flags for $5.99. Sure, he shouldn’t have done it but is $5.99 even a misdemeanor? It costs more to write up the charges and lets not talk about the lawyers and court costs.
So, this is Kristallnacht?
That’s an insult to what the Jews of 1938 Germany experienced . “Anti Semitism” has been cheapened and denigrated the same way “racism” has. If someone protests what the government of Israel does, as very many Israelis do, it’s Nazism. What a joke.
Protestors should be careful today on the 54th anniversary of Kent State.

If those government sociopaths manage to up it to a hate crime though...
Thanks for taking that way, way out of context
You’re usually more reasonable than that 🙄🙄
I’m just saying this bizarre hatred is probably how that eventually happened

The Nazi-allied fascist regimes in Slovakia and Croatia were Catholic. In fact, Slovakia was run by a Catholic Priest, Josef Tiso.
Rooting through past comments to find ammunition for character attacks.
For all you know that provision will be deemed “unnecessary” and removed from the bill prior to final passage.
And then, who would be the fool?
Assuming what you say is true, what is your point? Are you attempting to deny or disprove the social kingship claimed by Christ? Or say that it has been somehow been rendered void by the sins of mere men? You do not appear to have thought this through.
