In recent days, hundreds of thousands of Georgians have taken to the streets of their country’s capital, Tbilisi, to protest a controversial draft law being debated in the Georgian Parliament. The government, led by the Georgian Dream party, calls the draft law the “Transparency of Foreign Influence” bill. Opponents refer to it as the “Russian law” because it mirrors a Kremlin law designed to silence, stifle, and shut down political opposition. In the latest escalation overnight, Georgian police used water cannon, tear gas, and rubber bullets to break up continuing protests against the law.
If passed, the law would require all nongovernmental organizations to declare if they receive a certain amount of their funding from abroad. Opponents of the bill argue that these measures will weaken civil society and threaten freedom of speech. If the experience in Russia is anything to go by, their concerns are well founded.

You are right! It has all the markings of another State Department revolution of their concocting. - a la Ukraine 2014
This is my suspicion as well. Given a demonstrably complex world, any notion that there is one shiny white hat good side without any stain and one dingy black hat bad side without any value leads to error. Whatever else, this is a multi-polar world and we are ourselves in a multi-polar nation of competing politics, economics and culture. Such complexity requires one upset by complexity to choose "whitewash" as a favorite color.
Another country the CIA is hellbent on causing a color revolution in and thwarting the will of the people.
Up yours.
How the F can you claim to know what’s going on in frigging Georgia?
do you kooks sit up at night looking at pictures of Putin?
No jerk I don’t watch liberal channels and btw Fox and Newsmax blow as well.
---------------------
I just look at a map and conclude there is no basis to add such a country to a "North Atlantic" Alliance.
But that is precisely what they want to do.
Russia has its hands full in Ukraine so obviously Georgia will act up and so will a lot of other Russian satellites.
В эту ночь в Джорджии гаснет свет.

Okay, English:
That’s the night that the lights go out in Georgia.🌇🌚
I spent some time on this.
1) there are not 100s of thousands protesting
2) The law requires reporting funding sources that are external to Georgia. This would include Russian sources.
3) The law had 3 readings to Parliament. Two have already taken place and were voted through. The current is last reading and if it is passed, that is the end. There were already 2 chances for protestors to get the req’d votes to stop it. They failed. The people want the law.
More like the Globohomo Regime is losing in Ukraine, so they are trying to expand the war, create diversions.
We have seen multiple attempts: Kaliningrad blockage, Transnistra, Kosovo... etc.
OK troll, I’ll bite: How does requiring the 20k NGO’s now in Georgia disclose foreign financing, just like we do here in the US, constitute a “Pro-Russian” law?
Here’s one answer: It’s “Pro-Russian” in the sense that the CIA is fomenting a color revolution in Georgia hoping to get a NATO friendly government installed so that NATO can station missles and soldiers on another Russian border and open a second front? Is that it?
I’ve noticed that in the 2-3 negative replies I’ve gotten, none are factual. Isn’t that strange?
Well, I’m waiting.
1) You write, "How the F can you claim to know what's going on in frigging Georgia?"I did not claim to know anything about what is going on in "friggin" Georgia.
2) "...do you kooks sit up at night looking at pictures of Putin?"Silly question unrelated to the thread's topic. Of course the serious answer to your emotional question is "no."
3) You write, "No jerk I don't watch liberal channels and btw Fox and Newsmax blow as well."Nor did I suggest you did in any manner. Such emotional response unrelated to what I wrote to kiryandil suggests to me that many are using FR threads as a form of open therapy to deal with anger issues when the world does not conform to their wants.
It is a multi-polar world. There are many shades of gray between white and black. Since "color revolution™" is a term from the Obama era, and since Samantha Power is invested in work in Georgia under the Biden administration, it seems there is indeed complexity enough in the ongoing strife in Georgia. Lots of gray hats alongside the white and black hats, making unclear the whole.
In this complex world, we are planning to vote in the general election for Trump, without question. One hopes you will too.
Wow, it’s sickening how much we corrupt places around the world. There is only one reason for mass riots at the prospect of a law requiring ironically names NGOs to disclose foreign funding.
And I think you nailed it. CIA, State Department, USAID etc put the word out that the cash stops unless they get out in the streets.
Think of how many people we are employing, for idiotic goals, when we are flat broke. Why would any American care who is running Georgia?
Now we are demanding the right to secretly fund the opposition everywhere. And we get VERY indignant that anyone would dare to stop us.
Amazing hubris.
Ok, then why do YOU think there are mass protests in Georgia over the idea foreign money has to be disclosed by local groups? Who else in the world would be funneling money there?
There is only one reason those groups are inflamed at disclosing foreign (US) cash.
But they'd all be slaves in the gulags, along with a few million other Ukrainians.
Why do you hate freedom so much?
“But they’d all be slaves in the gulags, along with a few million other Ukrainians.”
The NGOs belong in Gulags, given all of the countries they wrecked.
As to Freedom, let me know when the Jan 6th protesters get released.
Rumblings in the news that the Chechens are "acting up".
These clowns pushed the Rose color revolution and then encouraged them in 2008 to start the war in Ossetia. They were convinced that NATO would ride to the rescue because that had been dangled.
Clowns in Action.
