Kristi Noem, the governor of South Dakota whose chance of being Donald Trump’s presidential running mate was widely deemed over after she published a description of shooting dead a dog and a goat, claimed reports of the story were “fake news” but also that the dog in question, Cricket, a 14-month-old wirehaired pointer, was “extremely dangerous” and deserved her fate.
“You know how the fake news works,” Noem told Fox News. “They leave out some or most of the facts of a story, they put the worst spin on it. And that’s what’s happened in this case.

It is a non-issue. It’s disappointing that FR appears to have some Karen types who can’t use critical thinking.

I like dogs and cats well enough, IN THEIR PLACE, but Noem not realizing that much of America practically worships their dogs and cats, well, that’s where she did herself in, IMHO.
My goodness, look at the absolutely asinine practices of some people! Dressing them up in little outfits and costumes? Walking them in strollers? Hats and toys and outrageous amounts of money wasted on animals? We had a crazy couple in Canada open up a luxury hotel for animals to go on vacation, if the owners, oooops, I meant to say “parents” were stupid enough. High end furniture, gourmet food, expensive serving dishes, fancy beds.....for people with too much money and no brains. Good grief. We’ve gone mad.

When she is no longer governor this probably ruins her chance of running for dog catcher… (rimshot!)

I don’t think she gives a crap what a bunch of indoctrinated Karen types think of her.

I rescue feral cats. Take them to the vets to get them spayed and then release them back into their colonies. Costs me good money.
Obviously I have the support of my local human society.

I have a friend who does that.
The spay/neutering fee is waved. Their ears are nicked, to show they’ve been fixed (to others).

Clearly not. I have no issue with her shooting a vicious dog. I’m thinking more about her judgment, as someone in the running for VP pick. So much wiser to say nothing about it.
From what I’ve been reading and hearing, it’s not just the Karens. This was an unforced error.

I have to question why she thought it would be a good idea to write about this. You're not going to convince people you are tough by shooting puppers no matter how badly they behave. My border collie wouldn't have lasted 5 seconds with her.
I thought she had potential , but this will probably kill Noem's national chances.

My vets used to work out deals for fees and the Humane Society used to do it for free.
But those were the good old days.
I've only got a few to go before I've wrapped up my colony. Oddly, the humane society has determined that colonies stabilize and stop reproducing. Thank God for that. I'd like to be done this this work.;-)

If I understand the full context of what she wrote, an unsuppervised one-year old puppy at worst killed a chicken. Having owned both chickens and hunting dogs, I can say from personal experience that you may simply need to keep them apart. The fact that she shot and killed a puppy shows that she is a cold-hearted witch. The fact that she published the experience in a book she wrote shows that she is too stupid for positions of responsibility.

Good points...While I respect others' choices in well kept and disciplined pets, I am often amazed at how they pamper them. But, to be fair, I am very considerate of and always pamper my Redhawk, Anaconda, and Python. /s
