CT governor takes partial blame for illegal cutting of 186 trees on neighbor's property

Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont acknowledged Monday he helped hire a landscaper that illegally chopped down more than 180 trees and thousands of bushes on a property behind his Greenwich home, capping off days of questions about his level of involvement.

The wealthy two-term Democrat, along with one of his neighbors and a neighborhood organization, have been accused of removing trees in protected wetlands — property they do not own — to get a better view of a pond.

Lamont denied that charge, telling reporters on Monday the trees were damaged in previous storms and the plan was to clean up the area. Yet he admitted partial responsibility for inadvertently cutting trees on someone else’s land.

“I think at the end of the day, I’m responsible and the [neighborhood organization] is,” Lamont told reporters after appearing at an unrelated event at Bridgeport Hospital on Monday. “They hired a contractor to do the work, and I think the contractor went beyond the scope a little bit.”

It’s smaller than all the states west of the Mississippi. In fact, all the states west of the Mississippi are larger than any of the states east of the Mississippi.

And CT used to be like NH and have no income tax until 1991 when Lowell Weicker, a Yale Grad, go figure, proposed a “temporary” flat 6% income tax and dripped the sales tax from 8% to 4.25%. It was only supposed to be for 1 year. Hahaha...

That had to be a 150k job, plus a heck of a lot of hush money for a lot of officials. What a crooked bastard. If the trees were damaged, the property owner can decide what to do.

To improve his view, a California judge authorized the destruction of a forest on adjacent land he didn’t own: It belonged to the County...!

I have to say this: LaMont might be a Democrat, but at least he isn't insane. There are some Democrats in Hartford that is saner that the Connecticut Republicans.

One thing about Connecticut, you will see your state senator and state representative in Shop-Rite. Heck, when I worked at my family marina, my state representative was a customer. He was a boater, hunter and a fisherman.

I will agree he is definitely not nearly as insane as many Democrats today. As an example, during Covid, he never had a jab mandate for things like teachers, state, employees, etc. Once he dropped the statewide mask, mandate, despite places like New Haven, Hartford, Bridgeport, etc. Demanding he implement one, he never did, he allowed amusement parks that are outside to reopen in 2020. These are just a few of the better examples compared to places like Massachusetts which wouldn’t even allow an outdoor amusement park to open for all of 2020.
