House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) criticized the motion to vacate that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is bringing against him next week in an effort to oust him from the Speaker’s office.
After Greene announced at a press conference Wednesday that she would move on her motion, Johnson—who has repeatedly broken the Hastert Rule and caved on Ukraine aid with no border funding—called the motion “wrong.”
“This motion is wrong for the Republican Conference, wrong for the institution, and wrong for the country,” he said, according to CNN Capitol Hill reporter Melanie Zanona.

I think most MAGA supporters can agree on who would be a better Speaker than Johnson - Andy Biggs, Matt Gaetz for starters.

Neither has even a snowball’s chance in hell of getting the office. You’ll have to come up with someone who is “better” and also who can win. I think this is the reality that Trump is dealing with. Johnson seems like a closeted Pence type, but he’s who the House Republicans voted for, including MTG.

I never said they did.
Republicans who voted no never cited the Migration and Refugee Assistance provision as one of their reasons for voting no. We are just learning about it now.
Not having time to read the bill is just BS. You could assign each Rep member a certain number of pages to read and report back what is in them.
Laziness, ambition, fear, or treachery, the result is the same.
If a Democrat becomes speaker of the House, does he then control the committees, ie puts Democrats in charge of them?
But, of course, you do.
But then again I never claimed I did. I did point out to you a more likely explanation for why Trump’s been reluctant to publicly criticize Johnson, an explanation that actually takes into account the risks in making a public demand for his resignation. One thing I’m certain of is that, unlike you, Trump takes things like that into account. He didn’t get where he is in life by not thinking ahead or engaging in risk assessment.
