The Democrat mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, didn’t send police onto the campus of UCLA when pro-Hamas demonstrators took over parts of it and prevented Jews from entering, just as Nazis once blocked Jewish students from the University of Vienna. A Jewish girl being beaten unconscious and hospitalized also drew no police response to the state government-owned campus. But when non-student members of the Jewish community of Los Angeles entered the campus and began physically confronting the pro-Hamas demonstrators and videos of fights went out on internet, after two-plus hours [update: 3+ hours] of mayhem, the Mayor decided to send in the cops.
While I cannot condone outsiders coming onto a campus to fight, it needs to be stipulated that pro-Hamas outsiders were the first to enter UCLA turf, and that the non-student Jews who entered campus to fight were responding with the same tactic, to protect community members.
It is hard for me to avoid comparison to a little-remembered incident from the 1930s, when virulently antisemitic groups openly demonstrated and excoriated Jews along the same themes as the contemporary Nazis. The worst of it took place in Minneapolis, later characterized by prominent journalist Carey McWilliams as “the capitol (sic) the capitol of anti-Semitism in the United States."

Yep, I was watching. Amazing for over 2 hours not a single member of law enforcement in sight. Obvious a stand down order was in affect. Those Jews are not going into cattle cars without a fight. I think they didn’t expect Jews to fight back.

Julian Epstein was on Fox News. He was laying into the Democrats for their lack of support towards Jews.
It was a mix of Israelis and local Chabad Jews (Orthodox Jews who are very big Trump supporters. "Stop Arab Hate" on Twitter has already identified many and predicted they would "never work again." Instead people in the threads are literally offering them jobs. LOL

I would not blame Mayor Bass for LAPD showing up too late for this disturbance...I blame UCLA Chancellor Gene Block instead...
I do not think that Mayor Bass wanted to send LAPD officers to UCLA without consulting with Chancellor Block...Chancellor Block is in charge of UCLA campus...Not Mayor Bass...I have a feeling that she probably wants to respect his authority on UCLA campus...UCLA did release a statement that it asked LAPD for assistance...
Former LA City Councilman Dennis Zine was on TV, discussing what was happening in UCLA...He stated that UCLA police was the main agency dealing with the situation...Not LAPD...Zine retired from LAPD...
I do not think that UCLA Chancellor Gene Block is doing a great job in this situation...He is retiring in a few months...
USC is only letting students and staff on the campus...They have to go through the checkpoints...
UCLA is not restricting access to campus by non-students...Maybe that is the problem...

Maybe it is time for Jews and their supporters to gather together on campuses and ensure that Jewish students are able to go to their classes safely. They could be called the “Mezuzites”, after the mezuza that is on the doorway of Conservative and Orthodox Jews, and represents “a physical manifestation of Jewish faith and tradition, serving as a reminder of the connection between the individual and their relationship with God.”

i live in LA also.obviously things were not handled well at UCLA since security left. when the Jewish woman was beaten and taken to hospital and a group of pro-Israel defenders then arrived to take up the Jewish side, pretty much all that happened was on Fox for all to see - like the Mayor’s office. but crickets for some time. maybe we’ll get a tick tock - someone was doing her X communiques, not her, so the announcement about the police being summoned was communicated indirectly.
He is a little slow in figuring that out
I remember Rodney King riots, Crown Heights riots, George Floyd riots, Mussah alNabbi/Easter riots of Jerusalem, 1921, Hebron riots of 1929, Kishinev 1903 and 1904 riots... I wouldn’t say this disorder is limited to Democrats, but as far as that goes, you’re right.
