> Not necessarily great playing these games before the election… <
You make a fair point. The Reagan quote does apply. On the other hand, conservatives are always told to wait. This is not the best time to make a move. Wait, and compromise.
Meanwhile, the Democrats are wreaking all sorts of havoc.
I dunno. Tough call here.
“This is not the best time to make a move.”
There is never a “good” time. The same excuses being used now to retain Johnson as Speaker will be used after the election.
We can’t afford another 6-12 months of Johnson destroying America.
If the Democrats save him, the history books will reflect that a Republican Speaker of the House was owned lock, stock and barrel by the Democrat party.
When do democrats ever compromise?
Exactly.
It is a game within a game within The Game. We end up endorsing apparent Dem wishes by virtue of standing on our own guiding principles.
It is on a par with Dems voting as R's for the weakest R candidate in a state primary and then voting as a D for the Dem candidate in the general.
It also compares to Pelosi (D) changing House Rules so she could essentially determine the R members (who were decidedly rino's) that would sit on the Special Committee she formed for her purposes.
1OldPro expresses the more rationale view when stating: "The GOP [in this case the majority party] should vote to change the leader of their own caucus."
