Trump says he and DeSantis 'had a great meeting' in Florida

President Donald Trump met with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Sunday, Trump noted in a post on Truth Social.

"I am very happy to have the full and enthusiastic support of Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida. We had a great meeting yesterday, arranged by mutual friend Steve Witkoff," Trump said in the post, adding that the meeting took place in the Sunshine State at the Shell Bay Club.

"The conversation mostly concerned how we would work closely together to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Also discussed was the future of Florida, which is FANTASTIC! I greatly appreciate Ron’s support in taking back our Country from the Worst President in the History of the United States. November 5th is a BIG DAY!!!" Trump said in the post.

The “same state” mantra is dumb. Believe it or not, people MOVE. Ask anyone in the service or an IBMer back in the 60s and 70s. Trump has many properties he could move to.

I do dislike Trump tearing his allies to shreds and then having dinner with them.

No, I certainly didn't suggest not even hint that that's what you should do.

I advised you to just keep your mouth shut re whatever your "friend" tells you.

Why should Trump have to change his residency you ask?

It’s a non issue if he doesn’t choose a Floridian as a running mate.

If he did choose a Floridian , such as Byron Donalds or Ron DeSantis, then one of them would have to change their residency so the ticket could get Florida’s electoral votes.

The Constitution indicates that electors cannot vote for two people from their own state. That’s why this issue comes up.

Can’t be....re the nepotism rule AND the fact that Don Jr. is NOT eligible to be VEEP or President, since he is NOT an NBC!

I have seen Ben Carson speak at a physician convention. He spoke well, saw no problems with that and he had some funny jokes.

I KNOW all of that! But as the presidential nominee, HE shouldn’t be told that he “has to move”! Which is WHY it will NOT be a Floridian who is chosen to be his VEEP!

Nikki would be terrible.

I wouldn’t vote for her as president.

He lacks Trump's ability to scare our enemies.

Neither is he charismatic, to win them over with aplomb.

When he ran in the presidential primaries in 2016, he not only had almost NO support, but everyone else, EXCEPT TRUMP, snubbed/ignored/was rude to him.

This time around, Trump needs not only someone loyal to him and MAGA, but someone who can get elected in 2028.

Trump needs to have a Republican governor as VP. The VP doesn't have to have charisma, as we saw with Pence who was wooden. However, Ben Carson can be entertaining as I saw.

This makes a lot of sense. Norm is problematic and frankly....too pretty for politics. I don’t think Id remember anything she said if she were VP or President. I do like Tulsi for this time we find ourselves in, but I also understand that that could hurt Trump with some voters. Carson is a pure win on all fronts and will be very hard to attack.

He’s good for the black vote. He has a high conservative rating.

He’ll do.

I’m not 100% sure about Ben Carson being the right person

I would rather someone like Byron Donald’s as he seems more aggressive, I think Carson is to passive , that’s my impression though
