Two people were killed and four others wounded after two men opened fire on each other just after midnight Sunday in San Antonio.
ABC 7 Amarillo reported that police heard gunshots during Fiesta San Antonio at Market Square and ran toward the sound. They soon found two armed men, one of whom was 18 years old and the other is 20 years old.
The men began to flee and, while so doing, the 18-year-old allegedly shot the 20-year-old. Police then shot the 18-year-old, killing him.

My 1st husband and I always took the cub with us to the fiesta festivities at market square-until 1978-while we were walking around looking at all the stuff at the booths, we heard gunshots-grabbed the cub and went into a building-there were people running around and yelling, cops all over the place, etc. We decamped with haste. We later learned that an argument in a group of people had turned into a gunfight and several people were injured. We never went to the river for Fiesta again. I’m delighted to live two counties away from SA...
I looked into moving to Boerne. Alas, too expensive.
CC
Living 150 miles away we used to watch 12 Star Final on the ten o’clock news coming from San Antonio. South San never failed to entertain with multiple stabbings and gun shot victims. Nothing has changed except Loop 410 is now within the city instead of the outskirts.
That is because a bunch of Cali transplants have turned it into a burb of SA over the last 25 years that is more like Cali. Kerrville is nice and not outrageous-lots of vets live there.
Beat me to it.
Prelude to Cinco de Mayo.
Festival of Lead?
Two men? What were their preferred pronouns?
Yeehaw, San Antone!
Hush!
RE: I was just watching a you tube video about the festival thinking it would be fun and probably peaceful ......
Wear Kevlar vest, thigh protection, arm protection, reinforced gloves, a steel helmet, steel toed boots and goggles. Wear ballistic-resistant protection and stab-resistant armor for protection against broken glass, needles, and knives.
Then remember to have fun.🤸
If you want to be really careful, go to Level 7 Protection:
UL 752 Level 7 Specifications
Most commonly used as a protection barrier against multiple shots from a military assault rifle, such as the M-16, and the like, with muzzle energy of 1158-1402 foot-pounds (1570-1901J). Armorcore Brand.
Note: Removable panels are sponge clean only – never submerge in water.
LaVernia is still on my short list of alternate locations. Half hour drive to/from work but would be worth it.
Boerne is beautiful. Granbury Texas is like Boerne but less expensive and it has a nice large lake.
Judge John Wood Assassinated!
45 years ago Federal Judge John Wood was assassinated by Woody Harellson’s estranged father. During Fiesta San Antonio in 1982.
Judge ‘Maximum’ John Wood was killed leading into Fiesta San Antonio.
Well, that explains Woody Harellson...
I just read that about his father after you mentioned it. (wiki) - wow
Judge Wood was gunned down in May 1979 at his home in Alamo Heights(suburb of SA).
I remember that event quite well. I was back home in SA working after graduating from college.
I was thinking it was earlier than 1982, the SA Light NP mentions in 1982.
Wasn’t Harrelson in a in a standoff with SAPD for a few hours?
In Van Horn, TX.
Charles Harrelson confessed to the assassination of JFK also.

” four innocent bystanders were shot as well. Two were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other two were treated at the scene.”
Oops-sorry-but CC is not from Cali or up north-he’s probably okay-since he didn’t ask about rural areas, I figured where I am would not be a choice, since it is rural-no major chain grocery stores-closest thing to a big box is Tractor Supply. If I wanted to live in a town, I’d be in Kerrville-have friends there, etc...
