An autistic Florida teen who knocked a school staffer unconscious for threatening to take away his Nintendo Switch has filed a lawsuit against the district, accusing them of failing to meet his needs.
Brendan Depa, 18, was just 17 when he was caught on video pummeling a teacher's aide, Joan Naydich, at Matanzas High School after she requested another teacher take away his gaming console.
Depa was arrested and charged as an adult with aggravated battery on a school employee, a first-degree felony carrying a potential sentence of 30 years behind bars.

Indeed, the late John Taylor Gatto's experience as a public school teacher was that the current system of regimented education harms even normal kids and aims more at having power over them than their proper intellectual and moral development. Libertarians and conservatives have generally embraced Gatto's ideas.
Why not a crown to make him a “King”?

There are many “special kids” that are violent. They should be in an institution, not in a school.
That’s interesting. Thanks for sharing that. When I was in kindergarten in 1970, there was a neighbor kid who was a grade above me but clearly much older, as his parents kept holding him back. He was super fun and energetic. One day, they pulled Morgan from school. I asked why and it that’s when I first heard the word “autism”. I hadn’t heard about or known any other kid with that until the movie RAINMAN. After that, it seemed to cumulatively explode, year after year, just like your data suggests. As an aside, my pop star nephew didn’t know he had it until the media broke the news. We had to explain it to him, but he didn’t really care. 😎
