An Orlando man, who built a life for himself in Florida, is now stuck in Haiti.
Gerson Joseph was on the deportation flight last week that went from Louisiana to Miami to Haiti.
Joseph had no idea he was being sent out of the country.
“I have no idea what I’m going to do,” he said on a phone call with NBC6 from Haiti. “I barely sleep man, I am not going to lie to you, I barely sleep, I am moving from place to place.”
Joseph was one of about 50 people sent back to Haiti last week, on the first deportation flight since gangs took over much of the country.
“They dropped us over here with no travel documents, I don’t even have a paper that can identify who I am right now, where I’m at,” said Joseph.
On Tuesday, leaders in south Florida’s Haitian American community expressed their outrage over the resumption of the deportation flight program and called on President Biden to stop future flights, noting the dire conditions in Haiti.
Joseph said he was deported because he missed immigration court date notifications, which he says got lost in the mail.
He resolved an Orlando court case, in which he was charged with criminal mischief, then went right into the custody of ICE at Krome Detention Center, then deported.
“While I was at Krome they approved for me and my fiancé to get married and everything, so I could stay in the U.S.,” said Joseph.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security says people who have deportation orders will be sent back to their country of origin and said April 19 they are “monitoring the situation in Haiti.”

Buh bye... DeSantis ain't playing around.
Try not to get eaten.
Waaaah, go fix your country.
A foreigner isn’t really a Florida man, or a Texan, or a California man, or a Bostonian, or any kind of an American.
“They dropped us over here with no travel documents, I don’t even have a paper that can identify who I am right now, where I’m at,” said Joseph.
He has the internet, a phone and a printer................
"...and they wandered in from the City of St. John without a dime!"
Should have never been allowed in in the first place.
I expect we’ll see a lot of this over the next few months b/c it’s an election year and the Biden admin knows Americans are furious about open borders, etc., so they’re going to try to “look tough” - through the election cycle, that is.
If Biden wins, no deportations and an open border to the 3rd world - if Trump wins, Democrats will call him “racist” for deporting a single illegal invader and file court cases immediately to stop the process.
The article is interesting. Why Haiti? Because there is no govt there to reject them? Are we dropping off some cash and old mre as well?
Is there more exporting going on than we see?
Maybe some leadership emboldened by the idea of Trump winning?
Nope. And I hate it when they use these descriptors. Say, "illegal immigrant" or if they want to be polite "Haitian national." He is not an "Orlando man."
He thought he said they were taking him to Tahiti.
That happened to me last night and at 03:41 AM I remembered that I had a bottle of melatonin and took one. You need to get a bottle of melatonin, mon.
So....not technically a “Florida Man”.
But, he made a good effort.
Bingo. He's a Haitian who illegally invaded the United States.
He resolved an Orlando court case, in which he was charged with criminal mischief,
Love me some Steely Dan.

Joseph was convicted of theft and burglary, and ordered to pay restitution of $270, Issa said. He has been detained since last year.
He had a deportation order dating from 2005 after losing an asylum bid that his attorney, Philip Issa, said was a result of poor legal representation at the time. Though Joseph wasn’t deported previously, his lawyer was seeking to have that order overturned.
I’m looking forward to hearing millions more stories like this.
“They dropped us over here with no travel documents, I don’t even have a paper that can identify who I am right now, where I’m at,” said Joseph.
kinda like when you came here...
Send us your violent, your wretched, your freeloaders, your whiners, your thugs, your despisers of Western Civilization...
He should not have registered as Republican. They don’t deport registered Democrats.
