The head of Israel's military intelligence directorate has resigned, the Israel Defense Forces said on Monday.
Maj. Gen. Aharon Haliva announced his resignation after he failed to prevent Hamas' unprecedented Oct. 7 attack, the deadliest terror attack in Israel's history, the military said.
"The intelligence directorate under my command did not live up to the task we were entrusted with. I carry that black day with me ever since, day after day, night after night. I will carry the horrible pain of the war with me forever," Haliva wrote in his resignation letter, according to a translation by the Associated Press.

“When is Netanyahu, the guy responsible for everything from 10/SIX forward, going to be kicked out?”
Who knew? Sleepy Joe was on Free Republic.
So we have a scapegoat.
At least it’s something, how many intelligence officials in Washington resigned or were fired for “missing” 9/11, the fall of Afghanistan in record time, lack of WMD in Iraq, calling Hunter Biden’s laptop Russian disinformation and numerous other so called intelligence failures.
So, I’m responsible for a bunch of thugs on hang gliders and motor scooters handing the IDF the most devastating, deadly and humiliating defeat in its history? Yeah, Right. Your boy Bibi is the one who was comatose asleep at the wheel when this debacle went down. It is amazing that you Netanyahu stooges refuse to admit he had any responsibility for it at all. The buck for this catastrophe stops at MY keyboard.
Still a stooge I see
Yep
You mean you want a leader who is more lenient toward Hamas and his supporters? Do you ever post anything negative about them?
Israeli politics are very complex.
Much more complex than DC.
The left has been trying to get rid of Bibi since ‘98.
The Israeli military command, and especially the intelligence agencies, were part of the anti-Netanyahu coalition. The real problem in Israel is a sort of caste warfare, somewhat similar to the US, though the components are different.
In Israel it is the Mizrahi (Near Eastern Jews), Sefardi and Orthodox/Haredi vs the Ashkenazi (European Jews) that dominate the institutions. Netanyahu represents the low end of that split.
Even the NY Slimes was forced to admit that.
Over 2,000 chemical warheads, I recall.
Not saying that was a legitimate pretense for the war or that we should have been there.
Just sayin'.
Iran and the Saudis had far more to do with 9/11 than Iraq did.
Everything else, I agree.
He appears on many threads.
The IDF was not defeated. Criminal gangs of murderous thugs crossed over to kill partygoers, villagers, women and children. People defenseless in their homes and cars were murdered. This was hardly any kind of military victory for Hamas. What an odd thing for you to say.
Bekah Valley Syria........
It is fortunate that Maj. Gen. Halevi was not working for Russia. Instead of a Defenestration of Prague, they sometimes perform a Defenestration of Pskov.
bkmk
[What an odd thing for you to say.]
He was just on a thread where he stated that “I get students protesting the killing of tens of thousands of civilians.” This is, of course, a bald faced lie. Maybe this person is engaged in Taqiyya.
Thread name - “Police storm Yale University’s campus with riot gear as hundreds of students stage anti-Israel protest”.

Then I remembered that the Bekah Valley is in Lebanon, surrounded by Hezbollah.
That's why we don't know.
Gaza is a small place.
A terrorist could normally leave his residence and be in Israel in less than a half hour.
As for the Israeli wall (or fence), it could always easily be overcome.
The fault is that the Israeli villages and villagers lacked self-defense weapons.
Much of the October 7th violence violated Islamic law.
