I think this crap has been going on in middle school for ages... the social media angle is new, and so is the reluctance of teachers to get involved, lest they get accused of racism or assault, etc.

I did not see this in my school in the Early Seventies in Prince Georges County, where I was there the first year they did forced busing.

This has never happened the whole time I was in school. Yes, there would be fights, but nothing like this.
