23andMe tells a lot of whites that they have 0.1% or 0.2% Sub-Saharan ancestry. I think the results are very unreliable when dealing with such small percentages.

I have slave ancestry. One of my great grandmother was the daughter of a house slave that had become so white over the generations that she was passed off as a cousin and provided a large enough dowry that she was attractive to second sons of planters who were landless due to the primogeniture laws at the time. Her dowry included about 90 acres farmland, a large house and six slaves, one of them was her half sister and companion. Great grandmother died before the Civil War, but her half sister lived into the 20th Century and was given a house and maintained. Her children had been sent to the north and trained for the clergy. She lived with them for awhile, but asked to come back.
