A California lawmaker has unveiled plans for a 'Genealogy Office' to decide which residents are genuine descendants of slaves and could get life-changing benefits payouts.
Steven Bradford, a Democratic state Senator for LA County, proposed bill SB 1403 to create a controversial genealogy unit to 'confirm reparations eligibility' of applicants.
The state's first-in-the-nation reparations task force last year decided that some residents should win $1.2 million payouts as compensation for injustices from the slavery era onwards

This is all so ridiculous. There are plenty of “white people” with 2% black slave ancestry walking around that won’t get a dime. Then you have “black people” like Obama and Harris that don’t have an ounce of slave blood in them.
Yep- there are claims that white slavery nearly rivaled that of black slavery- but only black slavery matters to liberals- despite the fact that many people lost their lives in the war that led to the freeing of slaves- that should be plenty of compensation, not that compensation should even be considered- life sucks, and many immigrants suffered terribly, yet they carry on knowing that life isn’t fair and just really really sucks for some folks-
If we are a nation of immigrants who fled the hardships of our former countries for a better life, then why are those immigrants now responsible to pay reparations to descendants of slavery in the United States?
Immigrants fled their homelands to get a fresh start here, and now they are being asked to pay for slavery here when their ancestors were being persecuted in their own land?
My family fled the pogroms of eastern Europe and Russia at the turn of the 20th century. After being kicked out of their ancestral homeland, why should my family pay for what happened in the United States in the early half of the 1800s? See the movie Fiddler on the Roof for what it was like for my own great-grandparents before they emigrated to the United States in the 1910s.
That's the quandary that the left will find themselves in when the details of "reparations" are finally produced.

She has no children. Those are Doug Emhoff’s kids from a prior marriage.
In fact, Kamala has only 4 living relatives in the United States: her father, her sister, and her sister’s two kids.
She has no other ancestry here since her father is from Jamaica and her mother was from India.
The woman has no connection to the Americans, no business ruling Americans, and if the immigration and naturalization laws had been properly applied, she probably wouldn’t even be considered a citizen.
Of a person is half black and half white, will they get only half the amount?
Well some of us come from families that have been here for the whole ride, and ended up shooting at each other back in the unpleasantness between 1861-65.

Why should we pay? Already paid at Antietam, Vicksburg, Chickamauga, etc. On the Reb side, they lost everything in most cases. G-G-Uncle was paroled at Appomattox by Gen. Grant with the remainder of his regiment...all three of them. Then he was deprived of his civil rights and moved West to be with the Union side of the family, it was safe from the Scalawags and Carpetbagger governments. Reconstruction was a hate crime targeting White Southern males.
So when is enough enough?
We all know the answer: never.
My mother’s family sent plenty of people to fight on the side of the North. While refurbishing one of the old family houses in the nineteen sixties, they noticed a discrepancy between the length of the house and the length of what was during that time, the main room. The back of a huge fireplace was hinged and behind it was a substantial room containing artifacts and newspapers from the civil war period. Apparently, it had just been forgotten about. Evidence indicated it was a stop on the underground railroad taking former slaves to Canada. I don’t know if any of the people who fought in the CW died or were wounded. (I have a pretty nifty calvary officer’s sword. It got passed down, but with no information.)
What about the descendants of the irish and chinese slaves?
I have a lot of Neanderthal DNA do i get compensation from European Union?
I am Irish descent and I know many of my relatives were part of the indentured servitude scheme do I get reparations for that?
How about my ancestors that were deported and worked in the prisons for free?
The media is the enemy.
If true slaves were never in that state so no on gets reparations which will cause riots from the idiot class for not getting free money.
that’s cool- not that they had to go through it, but that there is evidence and that they were helpful in the fight i mean- love old stories and newspapers and artifacts- pretty neat that they recognized the discrepancy and decided to check it out-
I ran across an old newspaper with a story about Hank Aaron getting a record- and should have grabbed it, but it was in an old abandoned house, and wasn’t mine to take so i left it- woulda been nice to have a bit of history though-
My point is about using the left's narratives against them.
If the left says we're "a nation of immigrants," then why should descendants of immigrants pay anything to descendants of slaves?
You can add your narrative alongside of that one to paint the full picture.

Besides not financially feasible it is morally wrong. No one alive (let alone Californians) are responsible for slavery and owe nothing to the descendants of slaves.
