The last time Persians attacked the Holy Land, they had the Jewish forces on their side. According to Antiochus, the Sasanian capture of Jerusalem resulted in the death of around 60,000 Byzantine Christians. Nearly 1,400 years later, retaliatory Iranian missiles struck Israel in a conflict where Persians and Jews are on opposing sides and the world’s still predominantly Christian hegemon is on the margins as a helpless bystander.
It is too fluid a situation to comment in detail, but it appears the Iranians wanted to keep the attack within that goldilocks threshold with ample warnings ahead. They had backchannels open with the U.S. They informed Iraq about the flight path and trajectory of their missiles. The choice of weaponry—no one intent on waging war uses subsonic drones that take hours to reach the airspace of the enemy to start an air attack followed by a few ballistic missiles, thereby letting enemy air defenses go fully active—was another signal that Iranian actions were predicated on reestablishing deterrence, and not escalation.
Iran’s official statement was measured, and targeted towards signaling the U.S. that Tehran wants to avoid a full-scale war.
"Conducted on the strength of Article 51 of the UN Charter pertaining to legitimate defense, Iran’s military action was in response to the Zionist regime’s aggression against our diplomatic premises in Damascus. The matter can be deemed concluded. However, should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably more severe. It is a conflict between Iran and the rogue Israeli regime, from which the U.S. MUST STAY AWAY!"
An almost Trumpian ending to a cautiously worded statement that attests three points: the conflict in Iran’s eyes is over, Iran will have to respond to further Israeli action, and the U.S. and Iran are not enemies—this is not between us.

I approve this message.
Let Israel do what it has to do, we don’t need to get involved.
A good article thanks for posting
I agree with for once in a million years
Just because the so-called "American Conservative" rag hates the Jews doesn't mean we sho9uld follow its advice.
I agree with YOU*
Israel will do what it will do anyway and well equipped
Iran just thumbed it’s nose at us, something that would NEVER happen under President Trump, as would Hamas never attacked Israel.
IMHO, this is propaganda claptrap...
This is definitely paid for, in some innocuous way, by the world ISIS/Iranian/moslem movement...
Keep our powder dry just in case, stop telling Israel what it can’t do, and stay out of armed conflict.
At some point Iran will either overthrow the mullahs, in which case we can rejoice, or jump the shark, in which case we can turn their sand into crystals if necessary.
No, we agree on foriegn aid. I want Israel aidto be payed for. I will be very unhappy if it’ s not.
“…the U.S. and Iran are not enemies.”
Huh?
I remember. That was, what, 44 or 45 years ago?
You know, the British violated international law by seizing American ships. That was back about 1812. Does this make Britain our eternal enemy?
Iran wants to make it sound like Israel wasn't responding to Iran's attacks by proxy beginning Oct 7, which included attacks from Hezbollah from within Syria, or that the Iranian embassy in Syria didn't have 2 Iranian generals.
But I agree with the premise of the article. It's not our fight to go to war over. What little we've done to shoot down the missiles from Iran was more than enough.
.
“There’s of course no incentive for Israel to be minimalist in war aims”
Spotted the bullshit. This just ignores Israel’s history of minimizing conflict and pretends they are the aggressor.
Crystal clear and completely approved by the squad and all the like minded chanting “death to America”.
This is not a zero sum game-it’s not all in or all out both of which are idiotic positions.
PS still waiting on the pullback out of the Ivy league schools or any of the anti white racism from anyone but the jews.
The uproar that will never arrive.
Yeah... we should stay out of it I mean we gave Iran $6B dollars give or take, Biden removed Trump’s restoration on UN sanctions on Iran and Biden doesn’t want Israel to retaliate. Basically the US, under the Biden
Administration, paid for and sanctioned the attacked and now doesn’t want Israel to do anything about it. Think about that.
We’ll be back in the middle east before long. We never finished the job which was to annihilate the entire area so it takes a few hundred more years at a minimum to get them back to caveman style living which many were happy with anyway.
YES we agree on this too
I think you’re more confident because Israel has shown it can defend itself
I’ve always thought it can. They have a decent army and tech.
The Brits don't say death to America or constantly say we are the great Satan. That guy Solemani who Trump blew up? Solemani was responsible for the deaths of many of our servicemen in Iraq. Solemani improved the Ieds to kill and maim our boys better.
Also, The British stopped impressment, but the message did not get to America in time (those message ships were slow in those days), but we went to war anyway, Tis a pity that we didn't wait as it would've saved us the burning of Washington.
