Despite his lack of faith, the author believes ‘something happened that was not supposed to happen’ on the day he was attacked
Salman Rushdie has revealed an abiding sense that his survival after a brutal knife attack two years ago was a miracle, in spite of his lack of spiritual faith. “I do feel that something happened that was not supposed to happen and I have no explanation for it,” Rushdie said this weekend before the publication of Knife, his account of the incident.
“I certainly don’t feel that some hand reached down from the sky and guarded me,” but it still presents a contradiction, he admits, “for one who doesn’t believe.”
Reading from his new memoir during an American television interview for the 60 Minutes show, Rushdie, 76, describes his assailant as “a squat missile” coming in at him “hard and low” in black, “the last thing my right eye would ever see”.

And cannot be revoked, for that jackass is rotting where he lies. Rushdie's surviving the attack was indeed a miracle.
That the Muslims who rage againstRushdie do so over the fact that there are indeed "satanic verses" mentioned in the Koran demonstrates that the large share of the Islamic world is all too "submissive" to that ideology which they actually do not know nor study in any depth.
Miracles do happen
I was dying of viral hepatitis in 1960.
I was in the hospital so long I had to learn to walk again.
One day, my doctor told my mom to stay with me that night, my condition was way past the point where anyone had survived. I believe the amount of penicillin that was pumped into me left me sterile.
That night, my mom sitting by my bed, Jesus came in the middle of the night and I talked to him along with 2 little boys who had died of hepatitis in my room. My mom said the room changed and she could feel his presence. She didn’t hear him, but could feel him.
The next morning my doctor was making rounds, expecting my room to be empty. He was amazed, I was on my knees holding on to the bed rail. He declared it was a miracle, my symptoms were gone, and everthing he had done had seemed to make it worse.
There are two Qurans, one for infidels to convince us the muzzies are peaceful, and one for the faithful.
Rushdie’s book was about the truth, and the muzzies can’t have the truth revealed.
THe Koran is a fairly short book and amounts to a small part of Muslim faith.
Most of what makes up the religion is contained in the Hadith which is a recount of the sayings of Mohammad and his associates.
Or a recount of how a war lord and his lieutenants justified their crimes.
taqiyya
Praise Jesus.
Wow! Great story! Thanks for sharing.
Interesting. Thanks for posting. Attacker Hadi Matar born in California, resided in New Jersey.
Indeed. Those citing "peaceful" verses fail to note such are the abrogated verses, according to Sunnah and hadiths aplenty.
For those who are unfamiliar, Wiki has a simple introductory article: "Naskh (tafsir)"
This is one of the many "holes" in the cracking edifice of Islam.
Thanks for reporting.
POWERFUL testimony! JESUS is the Healer.
To whom or what, then, does he attribute this “miracle?” Will there be a second time? How does he know the “satanic verses” are satanic if he has no belief to contrast them to?
The translations of the Holy Koran being sold to non Muslims have been altered to make Islam look like a religion of peace.
In our world what we call terrorism, in their world is just Muslims doing as the Holy Koran commands them.
Remember in one memorable scene, one of Scott's lines says it all: As Patton surveys the positive results of the battle in progress between Allied forces and the Nazi army in northern Africa, he proclaims, “Rommel, you magnificent bastard, I read your book!”
Every non Muslim needs to read the enemy's book.
Until they do, and then behave accordingly.
I always wondered why my life was spared, if I was destined to do something. I don’t fear death, because I can feel what is beyond.
I have wondered if my purpose is to share this testimony. Sometimes I feel compelled to share this, even to strangers. Maybe that is my purpose.
That was in 1960, when they didn’t know there were diffent viral strains. One of the kids that died in my room was our Babtist preacher’s son.
I don’t feel to stand before groups to share, only to individuls.
Blessed be God
In His mercy and wisdom.
It's all the same hate, instigated by the same evil entity. The hatred against the Jews by the Palestinians, Iranians, etc... is the same indoctrinated hatred instilled into blacks against 'whitey' here in the US by the Marxist left. All coming from Satan and his minions.
And weak-minded people fall for those lies because it is what they are brought up to believe in and over time, they have become comfortable with the negative feelings. They are destined for Hell, IOW... unless they can change their hearts away from the evil. Some can, most can't. Rushdie was given a chance, a grace from God. It's up to him whether he will use that grace to save himself. Free will, his choice.
It is amazing the lengths to which non-believers will go to ignore Gods existence. It wasn’t like a hand coming down, I don’t know what it was...but I know it wasn’t God...
That was an awesome story. Thank you for sharing, have you ever wrote more about your experience?
No
Like I say, sometimes I’m with someone and I feel compelled to tell them about it.
This is the only time I’ve written it down.
