Israeli media reported that the interception of dozens of Iranian missiles and drones by Israel overnight incurred a cost of up to 5 billion shekels ($1.35 billion). Each Arrow missile used for interception costs $3.5 million, while a Magic Wand missile costs $1 million, in addition to aircraft sorties involved in interception.

It is obvious that there is a very limited supply of incredibly expensive air defense missiles in the Western World (just ask Z). I think we’ve seen this strategy work before. We all know Netanyahu. He will escalate, he will implement the Z strategy. He will be successful for a while until Israeli air defense is compromised. He will waste tens of billions of American tax dollars. Bibi will fail as he did 10/7 and in his ghastly actions in Gaza. Netanyahu will get many Israeli citizens killed in his coming retaliatory misadventures.
I didn’t see anything in news about 20 or so Iraniam missiles striking two Israeli airbases successfully.
Are you sure that happened?
The article claims they shot $5 billion worth of defense missiles. Even if they used ONLY the $3.5 million Arrows, they would have had to have shot off over 1,400 of them. Yeah, I don’t think so.
Drones are a cheap product to spam against another country that has to spend and always be ‘right’ on air defense.
Exactly right and not too many people comprehend this strategy!
Ghastly actions in Gaza? I say kill them all.
So perhaps Israel should stoop to Irans level and engage in cheap drone warfare as well. If suicide drones are so inexpensive then go at it if that’s the way Iran wants to play. Proportional response and all that.
So, I guess this make the Harvies on the Charles some of Iran’s greatest admirers ready to block America’s roads and bridges if Israel dares to hit back at the Iranian raggies.
Nice to know the Israeli media is as supportive of defending Israeli citizens as the American media is of defending Americans...
The question is whether Netanyahu decides to provoke Iran again. It’s not in his interest to end this war anytime soon because as soon as it’s over he’s getting prosecuted on corruption charges and perhaps heading to jail. Will he ignore the US and attack Iran again? My guess is yes he will. Like most politicians he’s a narcissist who puts himself and his personal interests first.
That $5 billion was in shekels the dollar amount being $1.35 billion.

While the drones Iran sent over cost $1000 or so per drone-
Something to think about, Iran has no direct flight path to Israel. I think this was a test of both Israel’s air defenses AND to see which countries would help Israel.
IF Iran does this again, I would expect drones and cruise missiles to be launched from northern Iran, cross a small bit of Iraq air space and fly unmolested through Syrian air space to Israel. I would not be surprised if Iran launched a few ballistic missiles from the south just to make things “sporty.”
THIS WAS A TEST!!!!!
Yes, I saw the $US conversion in parenthesis. The article specified shekles, not dollars.
I know the cost of the munitions used in the defense greatly exceeds the cost of the munitions used in the attack, but I don’t see that as the correct comparison.
I believe what the cost would have been if the attack had not been countered is a better comparison.
Yep, war is the health of the state!
The Gaza work has been great.
You are too hardspunned, obviously.
Perhaps. But before Israel does that they have to consider that one of the reasons they're on the good side of Jordan and Saudi Arabia is because Israel hasn't threatened their airspace like Iran has (with Iran's missile attack on Israel). That's one reason Jordan shot down missiles flying over their airspace -- to teach everyone to leave them out of it. So if Israel strikes Iran then they should do it from the Arabian Sea. Which can be done, but with that come some problems (i.e. navy ships that are sitting ducks for retaliatory attacks).
