As much as I loathe Bergoglio and all his works, I can’t totally pin this one on him (though he hasn’t helped), as similar number have been seen in polling for perhaps the last 30 years. The blame goes to left-wing priests and bishops married to the Democrat party who have dropped the ball on this issue and refused to implement orthodox Catholic thought in parish schools, diocesan high schools, and even ordinary parish catechism. We’re reaping what’s been sown for 50 years.
As a proud participant in the Latin Mass subculture, however, I’d imagine that if they did a poll of us, you’d see very different numbers. Probably >98% anti-abortion.

I notice either that the US Bishops are starting to notice that Traditional parishes are thriving and growing with more young parishioners and that Modernist parishes are dying and being consolidated and some are beginning to defend the traditional Church or that new voices are being heard from bishops who have not spoken publicly before.
