South African Chief Rabbi to Pope Francis: Repent for sins against Israel
Israel National News ^ | December 19, 2023 | Rabbi Warren Goldstein

Posted on 12/19/2023 1:06:28 PM PST by silent majority rising

In a widely reported conversation with Israel’s President Isaac Herzog, the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, chastised Israel’s war on Hamas saying it is “forbidden to respond to terror with terror".

In comparing Israel’s just war of self-defense to the barbarism of Hamas, Pope Francis repeats the sins of Pope Pius the XII, from the Nazi era, of surreptitiously supporting the forces of evil who seek to annihilate the Jewish people. And betrays his fiduciary duty as the head of the Catholic Church to protect Christians throughout the world from the same murderous hatred directed against the Jews, not realizing that we are in this war together. I’m Warren Goldstein, the Chief Rabbi of South Africa, and here is why I say that. If Israel's war is not just, then there has never been a just war. In a Wall Street Journal opinion piece, David Rivkin and Peter Berkovitz, with decades of experience in statecraft between them, including serving in senior national security positions in multiple US administrations, accuse the Pope of “primitive pacifism” by pointing out that his views, as expressed to President Herzog, and repeated in other public fora, contradict the basic principles of a just war, articulated in the 4th century by one of the founding philosophers of Christianity, Saint Augustine, who held A comprehensive just war theory has been developed and now forms the consensus of the civilized world, as distilled in modern times in the Geneva conventions. On this platform, in a previous speech, I have set out the facts and arguments that demonstrate beyond reasonable doubt that Israel prosecutes this war in terms of all the conditions of a just war, as prescribed by the accepted international laws of armed conflict. Many experts in this field have, likewise, done so.

Any day that Pope Francis gets publicly spanked is a good day.

You must endure him until he dies, resigns or is removed by the Curia under the provisions of Canon Law Article 332.

Be patient, this too shall pass. Seems like a shallow statement, but it is true.

Except for his allusion to Pope Pius XII, who was smeared by a Soviet misinformation campaign the discrediting of which was well-documented but not well-publicized, I agree with the Rabbi.

it is “forbidden to respond to terror with terror".

We have so many church "leaders" who refuse to read and apply the Bible!!

Zechariah 12:9 "And it shall come to pass in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem!"

Perhaps South Africa's Chief Rabbi should redirect his piehole to his own backyard.

Yeah, I ALWAYS take advice from murderous commie black Africans, who committed many atrocities such as necklacing. Frankly, I don’t give a darn what those blathering idiots have to say.

I heard more than one time on radio call-in shows that “No, there is no group at the Vatican with any authority to remove a sitting Pope. He can volunteer to step down for health reasons but no one can require that even if he is mentally incapacitated or injured.”

So the Catholic Church with the Pope and the US with Biden can sink.*

*In case of a phone call to a foreign dignitary as by Trump, impeachment could lead to removal from office in the US.

I wonder what he thinks of Louis IX, a saint in the Church. Or what Louis would think of him for that matter.

I’m no fan of this Pope but he was responding to an incident where an IDF sniper fired upon a mother and daughter at a Catholic Church with the mother dying. Obviously neither one was Hamas they were innocent civilians. Intentionally killing innocent civilians is the very definition of terrorism, so the Pope is correct regarding this incident.

I believe that Francis was not honest. His intent was not to lead the Church, but to destroy it.

My old priest was right. After all these years, the homos and the commies have infiltrated the church and it is near ruin.

Tonight as I said the Rosary and looked at art of the Sorrowful Mysteries, I could imagine how disappoineted our Lord and BVM are.

I am embarassed to be Catholic. Shutting down the Church during covid was bad. I haven’t heard any apologies for that mistake that Frank the pope did. Now this. How many more will walk away from the church because it refuses to call a sin a sin? Why should I go to confession?

Frank really screwed this one. But that was his goal all along. and I cry. Frank’s most recent chest CT showed that his lungs were clear and that he had no heart.

Let me try to parse the issue.

Bergoglio is doing what the College of Cardinals hired him to do, which is to modernize. The Polish and German popes did their best to turn back the clock to before the Second Vatican Council, cloaking their intent in "hermeneutics" and "reform of the reform," but all it did was cause more Catholics to flee.

A few years back, the bishop of Trenton (NJ) stated that since 1958, 78% of Catholics had left the church. The Vatican immediately silenced him, not because his number was wrong, but because it was accurate. So where did this 78% go?

  1. The largest group became Christmas and Easter Catholics. Some like to call them Catholics in Name Only. They go to church twice a year and don't particularly care what their local pastor, their bishop or the Pope have to say.
  2. The second largest group became atheists and agnostics. There is something about Catholicism that biases these people against all religion.
  3. The third largest group became mainstream Protestants, particularly Lutherans and Episcopalians. These two faiths are very like Catholicism but without the baggage.
  4. The smallest group required a sense of surety and joined various Bible-based evangelical churches.

Bergoglio's goal is to induce Category #1 and #3 to return to Catholicism. Category #2 and #4 are forever lost.

The German Pope publicly stated he didn't care about those who had left and wanted a smaller, purer church. He also told those unhappy with his papacy to find another religion. The Curia told him to shut up because his statements were driving more people away and were bad for business.

Toward that end Bergoglio is trying to reconcile Catholicism with a world that has changed and is unlikely ever to change back. He couldn't do this while the German Pope was still alive, but with Ratzinger safely in his grave, the gloves have come off.

So what about the 22% (100 - 78) that remained in the church?

The Traditionalists have nowhere else to go, so Bergoglio doesn't bother with them. His pronouncements, however offensive, are his way of expanding the base of his church. Will he succeed? Or will his church join Aryan Pantheism and the Mother Goddess on the ash heap of history? These things take centuries to sort themselves out, so only our descendants will know the answer.

What that heretic pope did was the furthest thing from:

REFORM...OF ANY KIND...THIS MAN, WHO SHOULD NEVER,,,NEVER BE ADDRESSED AS “HIS HOLINESS” IS A DISRUPTER, A FOREIGN ELEMENT TO TRY TO DESTROY THE CHURCH.

AS I HAVE SAID, AND SOMEONE ON TV SAID IT TODAY...HE SHALL NOT DESTROY THE CATHOLIC FAITH...HE CAN TRY TO HURT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH...

but even THAT SHALL NOT BE SUCCESSFUL.
