Labor group says California $20 min wage ‘just the beginning’ vows to extend to all sectors despite layoffs

A fair wage advocacy group is demanding that California’s new $20 minimum wage law for fast food workers be extended to all sectors to help working-class people who are struggling with the state’s high cost of living.

FOX Business spoke with Saru Jayaraman, president of One Fair Wage to discuss what she described as the skyrocketing levels of home insecurity and food insecurity post-pandemic.

Fast food workers winning a $20 minimum wage, she said, “was just the beginning.”

Jayaraman pointed to the exorbitantly high cost of living in the Golden State where, in some counties, an individual would need a $40 an hour salary to live comfortably.

“People are leaving the state or are not having children, not having families. These are all the very basics we should be thinking about for humans living in California and needing to survive,” Jayaraman told FOX Business. “I mean the level of crisis that people have been enduring since the pandemic is severe.”

Ask them when they intend to remove Newsome’s Chronieism exception to the existing law that lets Panera not have to pay it... Go ahead, ask them.

No, when citizens revolt and have modern weapons comparable to military grade in the millions, citizens win and we start over.

Panera is not exempt from the carve out. I don’t understand why all restaurants can’t make bread and sell it as a standalone item frankly.

As a general rule, skilled blue collar workers such as welders, HVAC techs, plumbers etc. usually are paid 3-4 times the min wage. Welders and fitters are now makin$30-$50 an hour now and soon to go higher.

Expect a lot of jobs in Cali to be part time. And more kiosks/self serve/drive thru (no inside seating)

Why doesn’t Biden forgive all debt for everyone, decree $50 minimum per hour and 32 hour work week. He could do it in one Executive Order, call it Joes Hat Trick.

... and, just as with student loan "forgiveness", nobody will stop him ... especially the "opposition party" who will scream at the top of their collective lungs ... but will do nothing!

When wage go up, the cost to the consumers goes up. That’s why union commies suck more than normal commies do.

Goodbye California.

Its not that simple. If we don't build a wall immediately the rest of the country will be flooded with unemployed California refugees.

Unskilled, entitled, hungry and homeless, they will spread across the country like locus devouring everything in their path.

It seems like just yesterday that there were protests nationally for a $15 minimum wag--in even the most menial jobs.

Now since that has mostly been achieved, the $20/hr demand has taken hold in many locations.

Once that is the standard, it will be upward and onward, $25/hr will be the next demand. The repercussions, as always, will be totally ignored--it will just be another step in the relentless push toward the radical left's 'modern socialistic capitalism'.

Let's go Brandon.

Yes, to the liberal mind, 0 hours at $20/hr is better than 40 hours at $16/hr.

For a very simple reason - union contract salaries are frequently tied to the minimum wage. Even though this particular increase is supposed to be "sector-specific" I guarantee you that any company which refuses to adjust a union's base salaries upward when the union demands it do so will be sued - and will lose in the California courts.

More money and in-kind contributions from the unions to the Democratic Party will be the inevitable result of this or any minimum wage increase. It isn't like Democrat politicians care one way or the other about fast food workers.

Yes, but the unions can also work themselves out of jobs if they demand salaries that are not economically feasible.

CLOWARD & PIVEN

Prop up the lower class while TAXING the middle class INTO OBLIVION to pay for it while CRUSHING retail businesses with burdensome wages, regs, etc..

This is how you CRUSH a Capitalist Republic, aimed at a RESET where the GOVERNMENT TAKES OVER AND CONTROLS EVERYTHING INCLUDING ITS INHABITANTS (NOTICE I DIDN'T SAY "CITIZENS").

One of the KEY strategies of CLOWARD & PIVEN is to OVERWHELM all systems to the POINT OF COLLAPSE (including bridges).

LOL. No one on that side of the aisle never explain where that money will come from. Money tree? Either minimum wage is entirely pointless because real wages are much higher or it is a suicide pact for anyone operating a business with low wage workers.

The problem with commies is explained by Dunning-Kruger. They are too stupid to realize how stupid they are.
