Iranian Attack Expected on Israel in Next Two Days
The Wall Street Journal ^ | april 11, 2024 | Dov Lieber

Israel is preparing for a direct attack from Iran on southern or northern Israel as soon as the next 24 to 48 hours, according to a person familiar with the matter. A person briefed by the Iranian leadership, however, said that while plans to attack are being discussed, no final decision has been made.

Iran has publicly threatened to retaliate for an attack last week in Damascus, Syria, that Tehran said was an Israeli airstrike on a diplomatic building. The strike killed top Iranian military officials, including a senior member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ elite Quds Force.

Earlier this week, U.S. intelligence reports showed that an attack on Israeli assets by Iran or its proxies could be imminent, but a source says it now appears that the attack could be within Israel’s borders.

A U.S. official with knowledge of the matter said Thursday that American intelligence reports indicate an Iranian retaliatory strike within days, “possibly on Israeli soil” as opposed to Israeli interests elsewhere.

*** Earlier this week, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard contacted the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei with several options to strike Israeli interests, said an adviser to the paramilitary force. The scenarios under consideration include a direct attack on Israel with sophisticated medium-range missiles, he said.

In recent hours, social-media accounts close to the Revolutionary Guard have posted videos showing simulated missile attacks on Israel’s Haifa airport and its nuclear facility in Dimona. An Iranian official has also previously said Iran would strike at Israel’s power and desalination plants if attacked.

If that’s the case; Israel’s best defense is offense.

> We can thank Jimmy Carter for today’s Iran. <

Yes, indeed. And Bush II made a bad situation worse. Saddam Hussein was no friend of Israel (obviously). But Saddam was a counterbalance to Iran. Bush II did Iran a great favor by removing him.

Iran has been at war with Israel for more than forty years. You don’t think that his scenario has been war-gamed many times over by the IDF?

Is that the same IDF that failed to anticipate and was unprepared for the Oct 7th attack? 🤔

Actually you can thank Allen Dulles and the CIA. Iran had an elected leader. He made the mistake of deciding the British should not own and control all the oil in the country. The Brits started running around screaming he was probably a communist, so the CIA overthrew him on behalf of British Petroleum.
So we installed the Shah who created Savak and shocked the nuts off every opposition man etc, and 25 years later he was overthrown in the Iranian revolution.

So really, the problem of Iran was created by the CIA, in 1953, on behalf of the Brits.

So US intelligence says Iran is gonna attack Israel in two days? They’ve been saying that for about a week. But it must be honest, the intel community hasn’t tried ginning up a war with Iran for 15 years or more have they? They didn’t blow a cork and lose their minds when Trump called off a massive air attack in retaliation for them shooting down a drone, did they?
And I mean, our intel nailed it about covid coming from bat soup, that Trump was a Russian controlled asset, that Hunter’s laptop was Russian disinformation, etc etc.
And they didn’t get US law changed to legalize using propaganda against Americans, did they?

They are trying to talk up a new war.

I agree with much of what you said, but what you didn’t say is equally important.

Whether the shah was installed or not the Islamist’s were not going to remain quiet. Even Afghanistan was fairly western and secular for a period of time, that didn’t set well with Islamist, and they changed that.
Lebanon was western and prosperous and that didn’t set well with islamists

Law of unintended consequences always rules
