Pence issued a statement on X, criticizing Trump’s announcement that he did not support a federal ban on abortion.
“President Trump’s retreat on the Right to Life is a slap in the face to the millions of pro-life Americans who voted for him in 2016 and 2020,” Pence wrote in his statement:
By nominating and standing by the confirmation of conservative justices, the Trump-Pence Administration helped send Roe v. Wade to the ash heap of history where it belongs and gave the pro-life movement the opportunity to compassionately support women and unborn children.

“But today, too many Republican politicians are all too ready to wash their hands of the battle for life,” Pence continued. “However much our Republican nominee or other candidates seek to marginalize the cause of life, I know pro-life Americans will never relent until we see the sanctity of life restored to the center of American law in every state in this country.”
Pence’s statement came hours after Trump announced in a video posted to Truth Social on Monday that the decision of abortion would be left up to the states to “determine by vote or legislation.”

Pence is a Putz who needs bitch-slapping live on tv.
Is Mike Pence willing to block Ukraine funding until the Biden administration stops funding abortions? Is Mike Pence willing to shutdown the government in order to force the Biden administration to stop funding abortions? In short, is Mike Pence actually willing to DO somrthing or does he just want the issue for rhetoric and demagoguery? I’m sure we all know the answer.
Is that worse than a stab in the back?
If Leftists in Blue States want to terminate their
bloodline, the Federal Government shouldn’t stand in their
way, or more importantly, pay for it.
Another factor in his favor is that there wasn't much of a pro-life movement in the Republican party in 1980. Before that, there were active abortion supporters in high positions of power. The Rockefeller wing was pretty strong in the 60s and 70s. After Reagan the liberal wing of the Republican party ceased to be a powerful constituent part of the party that could contend with the conservative wing. I think there were some Liberals in the 90s (Alan Simpson of Wyoming comes to mind), but saying "I am a liberal Republican" would result in marginalization.
Yes, I’m pro life and Trump got it right, here is a supportive statment from one of the top pro life leaders that says it well:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Pro-life Leader Frank Pavone Responds to Trump Statement on Abortion: Abolishing abortion begins by getting Democrats out of office
TITUSVILLE, FL - Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone today thanked President Donald Trump for his statement on abortion released on his Truth Social account.
“As I said in my remarks recently at Mar-a-Lago, Donald J. Trump has been, and will be again, the most pro-life president our country has seen. He has not wavered on any of the pro-life positions or executive actions he has taken (including depriving the abortion industry of federal funds), or judges he has appointed, and we will again see such progress in a second term.
“President Trump is rightly proud of his role in the reversal of Roe v. Wade. Roe blocked the American people from protecting the unborn. Now, we can protect them again, and are doing so.
“By invoking ‘the will of the people,’ President Trump is pointing to the fact that courts are not here to impose a dogma of abortion-on-demand. Rather, the courts should step out of the way so that the people can have an open and honest debate about abortion. That’s what we will continue to do.
“President Trump’s announcement of the abortion policy he would pursue as president calls to mind the drafting of the U.S. Constitution at a time when slavery was still legal,” Pavone said. “The Founders understood that they could not get the Constitution ratified if it contained an absolute anti-slavery position. They needed to get the nation started.
“But with the Constitution they did adopt, they put in place the very mechanism by which slavery was in fact ultimately abolished.
“President Trump is taking a similar stance. We have to save the nation by winning this election. Right now we have a nation divided on abortion. But by saving the nation itself from destruction by the Democrats – by saving the Constitution, free and fair elections, freedom of speech and religion, and by stopping the extremism of the Democrats on abortion — we will in fact preserve the very mechanism by which we can continue to build a culture of life.
“I thank the President for his statement but I don’t expect him to do my job; I expect him to do his. My job and the job of the pro-life movement is to lay out the moral absolute of the right to life, which does not admit of compromise. Pro-life leaders, meeting recently for strategic planning, issued this joint statement that reflects the pro-life work that needs to be done in the next seven months.
“We look forward to continuing to work together with President Trump and countless citizens to leading our nation to ever greater fidelity to its founding principle that governments are instituted precisely to preserve the unalienable right to life.”
Blessings,

Good, I hope it knocks you on your Judas a$$.
Joe Biden’s grandkids got large payments from China. Mike Pence’s daughter got a book contract, after Mike got two contracts.
There’s a message in there.
We spent decades getting this kicked back to the states. We might consider moving slowly before we try kicking it back up to the fed, because the fed will administer any law congress passes.
Thread BUMP
Except that no one gets through a campaign without "dealing with" abortion.
Homicide is a state issue.
The perfect is the enemy of the good.
Generally feel life begins at birth and also feel people should take personal responsibility for their actions.
That said, we have been granted free will by the Lord and your Constitutional analysis is sound.
Unfortunately we live in a society where that's about the best we can do if we wish to maintain a political viability to avoid an even worse outcome.
It's a good assumption that the abortion issue and some very ill advised political posturing on the abortion issue by prominent Republicans in Congress was incredibly damaging in the 2022 election cycle. That posturing led to losses for Republicans that have prevented any meaningful checks on the Biden Admins profoundly destructive agenda and has done profound, incalculable damage to both the anti abortion movement and the country as a whole
That's just the reality of the world we currently live in so we have to choose between bad and much worse
He is a former President who overturned Roe v Wade. Been there done that.
Pence is a Christian Mitt Romney.
I can’t stand to listen to that douchbag traiter. I call him Pompous Pilate.
Exactly! It is now a state issue, and he supports that course. Case closed. So no more questioning him on his position or pretending he wants to do anything he has not said he intends.
Judas complains menu at Last Supper is not adequate. /s
Slap in the face is better received than a stab in the back.
