Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) broke with former President Trump on Monday over Trump’s decision to back away from endorsing a national 15-week abortion ban, declaring that leaving the issue entirely to the states “runs contrary to an American consensus that would limit late-term abortions.”
“I respectfully disagree with President Trump’s statement that abortion is a states’ rights issue,” he said in a statement responding to Trump.
Trump on Monday reversed course on his plan to support a 15-week or 16-week national abortion ban amid pushback from top Republicans, who warned it would put the issue of abortion rights at the forefront of the 2024 campaign and hurt their chances to taking back the White House and the Senate majority.
Graham, however, argued that “the pro-life movement has always been about the wellbeing of the unborn child — not geography.”

He’s a controlled globalist tool.
Always has been.
Need any further proof that Graham is a DNC plant?
A mysteriously convenient water pipe break that shut down counting for the night when Trump was clearly ahead put biden in office when the counting resumed the next day
And he has a LAW degree???? Oh, that is not what matters is it...the LAW & Constitution
Let me try to explain how the black mail works on even good men. A Congressman gets newly elected and he’s staying at a hotel room until he gets things set up for his two or six year term. He goes to Congress and does his job and he goes back to his hotel.
In his hotel room, there is a fourteen year old girl waiting. He doesn’t do anything, but pictures are taken and accusations are made. He is told that these pictures will be released and it will be made publicly known that he had liaisons with this girl unless he tows the line.
He tells them that he won’t toe the line and he’s going to do his job. So, it becomes publicly known that he was in his hotel room with a 14 year old girl and it is alluded that they had relations. He admits that he found her in his room, but he denies that he did anything with her and that is the truth.
Are you going to believe him with the evidence that has been publicly released? Do you see how blackmail works against good people?
That gives a better perspective as to the seriousness of the issue and why it is not just some personal embarrassment or humiliation involved if refusing to be blackmailed. It is that actual incarceration for some crime which the target has no chance of defense against. I wonder if some have been made public examples of over the years, not so the blackmail angle is glaring, but so the rest of congress keeps falling in line?
Wondering about Harry Reid’s “exercise machine” accident that left him battered and bruised and blinded in one eye, or Mitch McConnell’s sister in law’s strange drunken Tesla drowning accident? Can anyone remember other type incidents?
Lindsey Ukraine needs reinforcements on the “Eastern Front”...
“to back away from endorsing a national 15-week abortion ban, declaring that leaving the issue entirely to the states “runs contrary to an American consensus that would limit late-term abortions”
That may be, but I think there is also an “American consensus” that agrees with Justice Alito - it’s a matter for the states, as the Constitution provides no federal mandate concerning abortion.
The only manner of agreeming with Graham, in my mind, would be legislation seeking a Constitutional amendment, not a mere federal law.
Still working for the other side.
The Democrats did not turn us into a socialist nightmare overnight. They chipped away at our once great country, bit by bit over the course of many decades.
This is what we need to do.
We need “common sense abortion control”.
Start with 15 weeks and go from there.
Warmongering, globalist, deepstate, POS.
I don’t know why anyone is complaining about this here on FR. Graham actually makes Trump look like a more reasonable candidate.

Which matters significantly as we head towards November.
IMO Graham’s roll is to keep as many anti abortion conservatives from jumping over to a third party, that might be more purist on the issue. The Constitution Party comes to mind, right away.
Graham is just asking for the Supreme Court to have Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and John Roberts to all be replaced with Sotomayer clones or to have Biden pack in another 6 to make it 15 seats.
Not towing the line means prison and a destroyed life after his political career, or in Harry’s case, being beaten up.
You pretty much have to follow Billy Graham’s advice to the letter. In my hotel room example, I would probably request the hotel staff to enter first to make certain there is nothing there. But people don’t think like this, where they take the utmost precautions and there a thousand points of vulnerability that it’s going to happen sometime.
I understand the political expedience of distancing the party from Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, but if you’re ideologically anti-abortion I can’t see how you’d take issue with Graham.
Thank you and I am beginning to see the monumental obstacle that is before us with this and how prevalent it likely is.
Doesn’t feel conspiracy theory territory but all too plausible instead.
He should throw it back in Sen. Spineless’s face by saying “As long as the gutless cowards in the legislative branch refuse to do their job, and bring forth a viable federal solution to the abortion issue, the states must lead the way by acting in the behalf of a majority of their constituencies!”
By the way, I’ve never seen a photo of the burst pipe that was so bad they had to shut down the convention center.
...well, he told you he loves Joe Biden and Joe is one of his best friends!! Should tell you something about the company Linda keeps.... ymmv
Relish Roe and leave it to states for now
