Representative Mike Turner (R-OH) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that Russian propaganda has “absolutely” infected the Republican base.
Anchor Jake Tapper said, “Let’s turn to Ukraine, an issue that’s important to you and your fellow Republican Chairman, Michael McCaul, who runs the form refers committee. Congressman McCaul made a comment this week about what he says sounds like Russian propaganda from some conservative media. Why it’s so difficult to explain to Republican voters why supporting Ukraine is important. He said, “I think Russian propaganda has made its way into the United States, unfortunately, and it’s infected a good chunk of my party’s base. He singled out primetime shows on conservative channels. Do you agree with him and how big is this problem?”

I’ve said this before, but I have no problem with people who oppose continuing to fund the war in Ukraine. I don’t support it either and want it to end. There are a subset of people though who cheer (passionately) for Putin and Russia to win. I don’t understand those people and it disturbs me that they claim to be “conservatives”.

IMO, it was people in both parties that kept telling us Afghanistan, Iraq, and Vietnam were wars we needed to be involved in, as it turns out we are not in any of those countries with any meaningful presence, recent history has shown we are not good at occupying a country or winning hearts and minds thru the military.
If we are going to engage with those countries, a different approach might have made a difference, instead of throwing our military into the country maybe try the China model of building infrastructure, the problem is, we can’t even build infrastructure for ourselves much less for other countries.
