As Russia steps up airstrikes and once again advances on the battlefield in Ukraine more than two years into its bloody invasion, there is no end to the fighting in sight. And President Volodymyr Zelensky’s options for what to do next — much less how to win the war — range from bad to worse.
Zelensky has said Ukraine will accept nothing less than the return of all its territory, including land that Russia has controlled since 2014. But with the battle lines changing little in the last year, militarily retaking the swaths of east and south Ukraine that Russia now occupies — about 20 percent of the country — appears increasingly unlikely.
Negotiating with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war — something Zelensky has rejected as long as Russian troops remain on Ukrainian land — is politically toxic.

Wars are funny these days.
Nobody is The Good Guys v The Bad Guys; you sorta root for all sides to take a beating.
There’s no final decision; people quit fighting when everything is rubble and they’re short on cash and people.
And there’s no truth; everybody is lying.
You're ridiculous.
We fomented an illegal coup in Ukraine. We installed a puppet government hostile to both Russia and the ethnic Russian population in Ukraine. We tried to cutoff the Russians access to a naval base they had in Crimea since before the US Constitution was written. We trained and funded a 600,000 man Ukrainian army. We armed Ukraine with lethal weapons. We running biolabs with deadly pathogens in them in Ukraine.
If Russia or China did anything like that in Mexico, we, justifiably, would invade.
Russia has far better reason to be in Ukraine than we did in either Iraq war.
This is where Zeeper lies come to die.
How then is it ‘we/us’ ?
That's because Zelensky refuses to site down to any negotiations whatsoever. He was recently in Turkey, visiting Erdogan. Erdogan offered to host peace summit there, and Zelensky turned him down. He's able to do whatever he wants as long as his country remains in a "state of emergency."
If the Mexican Army invaded and occupied Arizona and New Mexico, do you think our American President will sit down and "negotiate" with Mexico?
Now you see why Zelensky refuses to negotiate with the invading Russians.
Not me or mine are going to fight for the deep state honey pot or defend their borders when more immigrants have invaded our boarders by a factor of 5 than invaded Ukraine.
This isn't Ukraine. I don't give crap about either country. This so-called "war" is nothing more than another proxy war to put more money into the pockets of dealers in death and destruction. Not one penny, or weaponry has been accounted-for on the other end, and never will be. Enough of my tax dollars have been wasted on this crap in the past proxy wars with Russia, as it is being wasted today. This is not our battle. This is Europe's problem. Let them fight for their own borders for once. We've got enough problems with our own invasion here. This country is dying, but that isn't enough to stop people like you worrying about what's happening 5,000 miles away, in a country the size of Texas. The State of Texas here is being turned into a blue State by RAT corruption, and you're more interested in Ukraine.
Sending white Christian men to their deaths was a bonus for him and his handlers.
We forced Ukraine to give up their nuclear weapons, 30 years later they ended up getting conquered by the Russians.
I think that's the argument we'll see in U.S. Congress and Mike Johnson will approve the funds for Ukraine.
Joe Biden is a slimebag but he's our President. He will not close our borders. Hopefully, Trump will win in November.
Blah, blah, blah! I heard all that crap in the 50's and 60's. It's just more propaganda to give warmongers a reason to push to continue support for a country we have no national security interest in. The U.S. didn't force Ukraine to give up anything. They did it willingly for a handful of cash. People only do to you, what you let them get away with. If Ukraine was that stupid 30 years ago, it's obvious they haven't learned anything since then. This country is not responsible for the bad decisions of foreign countries. For somebody who calls Joe Biden a slime ball, you're lock-step with him on his Ukraine policy. What does that make you?
NATO has flaunted Ukraine as a member of that organization since 2008, announcing back at a summit then, that Ukraine and Georgia were the next to join. 16 years later, nothing. Guess it wasn't such a big deal back then, and like everything else, NATO has been MIA when it comes to forcing member countries like Germany to bring their defense spending up to required levels. Along comes Sweden, and she's waltzed right in, lickety-split, while Ukraine is still standing out in the cold? What kind of f-ing game is that? And why has the U.S. been putting up with the mismanagement of NATO for the past 75 years? It's a useless entity, and needs to be disbanded totally, or the U.S. exits completely.
Ukraine is corrupt. But that the same time they are defending their Homeland from the Russian invasion. Both things can be true.
You can't have it both ways. It's one or the other. And because Ukraine is a corrupt country, why should U.S. taxpayers be responsible for continuing to support a corrupt country? Isn't there enough corruption in this country to keep you happy?
If Ukraine was such a big deal 30 years ago, why didn't NATO bring her in, when she willingly gave up her nukes? The U.S., U.K., and Russia were part of that deal. Why did Bill Clinton push for Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan to sign onto the memorandum? The Cold War was over by then. We already know how much Ukraine got out of the deal. How much did Belarus get? Kazakhstan? How much did Russia get out of the deal? The U.K.? And the memorandum was never ratified since its inception, and is not enforceable internationally. End of story. It's just a nice excuse for fighting another proxy war with Russia, wasting lives, and American tax dollars for a war that will never be won by anyone. That's the way it is with proxy wars. There are never any final victories...just negotiations to end the hostilities.
As I said, I’m not concerned about what happens to Ukraine, but what did happen was the wrong way to go.
Post 33 has yet another yacht lie, that yacht is the Amadea owned by the Russian Oligarch Suleiman Kerimov until the United States confiscated it, they recently moved it to San Diego from Fiji.
Perfect recitation of Russian talking points
Ukraine never had any intentions of attacking Russia no
Matter size of military
Poland, Estonia, Latvia and tona degree Lithuania have been member so Nato for years and no attack
Crimea has been controlled by many people and states of the centuries, exactly why does Russia get to use a past control as justification, Poland once controlled much of what is now Russia, is their past justification for invasion abs occupation
lol a coup by definition is illegal so a bit redundant, but a coup. Done with voting and the former president not escaping to Germany or England but to Russia. The snipers killing the “coup” citizens was a nice touch, before fleeing to his master. Russians should not talk of coups, illegal or not
Russia built the bio labs, and Russia has their own bio labs, we don’t know what was happening in them, but perhaps we should invade Russia because they have bio labs, sure theirs are working on cures for cancer/s
Save your talking points for someone else
I did with a straight face, and will again.
Russia was not threatened
Blitz, no one should ever doubt your true Zeeper syndrome
But, the Ukrainian nationalist/neo-Nazi government MOST CERTAINLY did persecute, murder and try to drive the ethnic Russian population in Ukraine.
It tried to deny the Russian military access to a naval base at Crimea that had existed since before the US constitution existed. If you think the Russian government was going to give that up, you're nuts.
And, never mind that the Ukrainian cut the water supply off to Crimea.
But, only an idiot would claim NATO training, funding a 600,000 man Ukrainian army and arming it with missiles that could reach Moscow wasn't a national security to the Russian Federation.
If Russia or China had done what we did in Mexico, we'd invade.
Ukraine was far more of a threat to Russia than Iraq ever was to us.
Take your Biden regime/Deep State talking points and ram up your a-hole, you Zeeptard.
What in hell are you babbling about? Russia has had naval base there since 1783, longer than US Constitution has existed.
And, never mind, that people in Crimea overwhelming considered themselves Russian and had been seeking independence from Ukraine since the fall of the Soviet Union. Those in Crimea, Donetsk and Lugansk, overwhelmingly, voted for Viktor Yushchenko, who was illegally was thrown out of office by coup that we fomented.
The people in Crimea, Donetsk and Lugansk had EVERY right to seek their independence and/or join the Russian Federation. There were no obligation to remain part of country whose government that was persecuting, discriminating against them and murdering them.
You don't like that fact? Too damn bad. Get your sorry ass to Ukraine and fight the Russians yourself, you gutless wonder.
As a russian apologist at best, and more likely just a Russian. I expect no less from you
Well
Done
