30 seconds must feel like an eternity in a earth quake. I felt a couple of somewhat smaller ones in L. A., but they felt much shorter in duration. Not a lot of noise, either.

This was very different than the others I've experienced here in NWNJ. This had a slow rise in amplitude from being first perceptible and a faster decay from its peak to finally being done and imperceptible. I had enough time to clear three floors of my home ensuring nothing blew up before it ended completely.

Contrast that to micro quakes we've had around here that remind you of a storybook giant banging his hammer hard on a giant anvil. Loud and gone in an instant. Very different; always exciting. :-)
