More people losing their jobs means more people collecting unemployment and food stamps.

Whether it's by increasing the minimum wage, or by increasing entitlements, inflation will go up.

My understanding is the loophole is the place has to make bread to get the exemption. Most fast food joints have biscuits on their menu. Make the biscuits there.

It’s a democrat stunt for votes. It helps no one.

Minimum wage goes up.
All other companies that use the minimum wage as a base now raise everyone’s salary/wage.
Prices go up EVERYWHERE to cover the new wage expense.
The minimum wage worker is right back at the bottom.

Unintended consequences.

Something about liberals that they cannot process this simple truth.

The lawmakers who made the laws and the beneficiaries of the laws literally have no idea how businesses work.

They ‘think’ the businesses are out there just price gouging their corporate hearts out and making the profit off the backs of its workers and just set a price for a huge profit, so if a worker is mandated more money, they can just raise the prices to compensate irrespective of competition or people just not buying their services anymore.. Either that or just take the costs out of its profits.

This is their result. More to come.

High School and GED employees aren’t worth $20 per hour of even $10.

Asst. Mgr. believed Foster Freeze was below 60 location threshold and could avoid the $20 minimum, but employees would soon be asking for it because “everyone else is getting $20”. They’ll quit and go for the higher wage....

....for a while

The issue is that this particular business didn’t appear to have 60 locations nationwide. So why did they have to raise wages to operate or close?

Seems to me that someone needs to open a business where they supply a bread machine that makes just enough bread to get through the loop hole.

The question is: is this all a consequence of idiots not seeing the handwriting on the wall that is,as plain as the nose on our faces? Or is it part of an assault on America to destroy agriculture and food production, ranches, chicken farms etc etc etc?

California continues to lead the nation in stupid laws that hurt workers. The constant raising of minimum wages just pushes more workers into higher tax brackets while the costs of everything goes up. Nobody gets further ahead but a bunch of businesses close up putting workers out of work which then impacts unemployment claims in the State. Vicious cycle.
