If made to stay open it would be with completely empty shelves. Empty store but a sign on the door saying “we’re open.”

More Leftist insanity. I guess it’s too much to ask that they arrest and prosecute shoplifters.

While they are at it they should demand that everything in the stores be free.

I think they would rather pay the fine for closing than accept the losses from operating.

They try and get this passed and you will see a mass exodus of grocery stores from certain parts of the city, or hell as many as possible just leave San Francisco ASAP. Then what will the city and county do, well open their own stores and suffer the losses as much as they can. Or the city can guarantee the stores losses to keep them open.
Of course they can make them stay open, nothing says the stores have to continue to stock merchandise. Socialist Utopia San Fran. Upton Sinclair would be proud.

This article made me think a bit. Let’s say you’re a store that is being ravaged by shoplifting. Could you theoretically eliminate ALL “in person” shopping and go to 100% curbside pickup and delivery? You could fire all cashiers, you could stock more like a warehouse, and your staff would be a bunch of kids picking stuff off of shelves, packing in cars, or delivering.
All shopping done via app, paid for online, and hustled out to you in the parking lot?
Wouldnt that solve 99% of the shoplifting problem while allowing you to remain open?

Will the city bear responsibilty for damages, personal and material, should crime happen during the mandated open period?

Let the members of the Board of Supervisors pony up the money and open their own grocery stores.
