When Ukraine became a sovereign nation, Russia, the UK, and the USA all agreed to provide military defense in exchange for Ukraine relinquishing its nuclear weapons for destruction. Ukraine, the UK, and the USA have all kept their part of that bargain. Only Russia has turned on everyone involved.
