rdcbn1 #5:"The Ukraine is running out of time for an honorable negotiated settlement."

PGR88 #9: "Time has already run out.
Russia will now accept nothing but unconditional surrender."

rdcbn1:"You may be right, assuming that Putin actually wants to be responsible for a broken and bankrupt Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis that will accompany a Russian takeover if Russia chooses to occupy Ukraine post war."

You can be certain that if Vlad the Invader defeats Ukrainians, he will not only occupy what's left of Ukraine, but he will also obliterate the memory of Ukraine as a country and a people.
That's what Old Soviet KGB style Russkiy Mir demands as the high cost of Ukrainian resistance to Russian domination.
Ukraine is the example Russia sets for other potential resisters to see.

rdcbn1: "My definition of honorable settlement is Russia has some territorial rights to Eastern Ukraine and the rights of ethnic Russians are respected and guaranteed, Ukraine remains neutral and not part of NATO.
An agreement along those lines may still be possible."

By any definition, there is nothing honorable inside Russia today, it is all 100% pure evil, aggressive & corrupt dictatorship imposing its will by military force on its weaker neighbors.
The only honorable settlement possible is 100% withdrawal of Russian military from Ukraine's internationally recognized 2013 borders, Russian reparations to compensate for the death and destruction in Ukraine, and war crimes trials for the worst of Russia's leaders -- those still alive after Russians finally rise up and overthrow their current Kremlin corrupt-ocracy.

As for NATO: Ukraine is already, de facto, a NATO member and will in due time become one officially.

rdcbn1:"One thing for certain, Ukraine is not going to be any position to make demands on much of anything and Ukraine asking for war reparations. repatriation of Crimea and war crimes tribunals for Russian leadership is laughable at this point"

Laughable today, maybe.
Laughable in the future? To be determined who, exactly, laughs last.

first of all, a cartoon is not an argument

YOU: As for NATO: Ukraine is already, de facto, a NATO member and will in due time become one officially.

You have just stated why Russia will not allow Ukraine to exist in any form as an independent nation.
