CHICAGO (WLS) -- Student loan burrowers could be missing out on a break through the Department of Education's Saving on a Valuable Education, or SAVE, plan.
"I have both loans for my graduate and undergraduate degree but if it can help me lower my payment that would be helpful," said borrower Peace Odili.

For every $1,000 borrowed above $12,000, you can receive forgiveness after an additional year of payments. Even if you don't qualify for forgiveness, you could qualify for other savings.
Other than owing more than $12K and being timely on payments, I don't know what other requirements there are for having taxpayers wipe out your debt.

Here’s an idea sweetheart. Get a job and pay for your loans.
Better idea-think before you borrow.
Even better idea- get a degree in something marketable.
Under the save program, After 20 years the balance is forgiven. During each year any interest in excess of the maximum payment is also forgiven.
The “Academic” college campii thieves are now claiming they’ll be stealing $95,000 this year for jugheads to listen to them break wind. Now that none of the deadbeat students owe for the student loans they took out, they can run up a new pile of “student loans” for Joe Pedo their savior to “forgive”.
“Reading the article (I know, not a common FReeper technique LOL)”
Thank you for reading the article before.
We’re becoming a ‘buy now, the rest of us pay later’ country.
Congress is the only Branch that can forgive Federal Debt.
