Yep, this could cost Trump Fla. When will the GOP learn to get these things on the primary ballot.
Abortion access...
Abortion has been forever an acceptable term and it’s become as harmless as peeing. Both natural and acceptable and harmless.
But, abortion is about KILLING a human being. Instead of ‘aborting a fetus’, the term should be changed to what it actually is, “killing a baby”. Just because it can’t be seen doesn’t mean that it’s not alive and that it’s not a human being.
In Florida, it takes a 60% vote in favor to approve a State Constitutional Amendment, it’s hard to say how the vote on these two amendments will go, both could get over 50% but not reach 60% and fail.
The only reason I think recreational marijuana might get approved, is medical marijuana was approved a few years ago which means people are used to marijuana being more readily available.
Direct democracy.
We’ve been constantly pounded on these ballots measures by the local media. NEVER, not once, have they told us the wording that is in question.
And there goes Florida.
Yes another state off the united list.
The good news is they are separate amendments. Had they been tied together I’m almost sure the pot half woulda drug the baby killing half across the finish line.
I don't think it will hit that threshold, but it will motivate the younger Democrat voters turned off by old man Biden to vote. I think that was the point. Florida may be back to purple or even marginally blue.
Or simply pass them in the legislature instead of making the voters put them in the constitution.
“In Florida, it takes a 60% vote in favor to approve a State Constitutional Amendment, it’s hard to say how the vote on these two amendments will go, both could get over 50% but not reach 60% and fail.”
Great.
So if they DO fail this time around, the loony left can bring them back again and again until they pass?
Getting only 51% may be a failure for these amendments, but 51% would be wonderful for any Democrat during elections which feature inflated turnout from liberal baby-murderers and dirtbag dopers.
Gotta push their two issues to keep the DNC slaves on the plantation. Hopefully, people with an ounce of common sense will realize these issues are only important to them when they know they are LOSING.
What, and make elected officials go on record as supporting or opposing them? That could cost them their cushy jobs.
The state-by-state passing of abortion will be the final nail in the coffin aloowing the DEMs to own the White House, Senate, and the House for good.
So, Republicans too lazy to get out and vote are expected to carry the day? Motivation ought to work both ways.
Perhaps, but in Florida today, in terms of registered voters, Republicans outnumber Democrats by about 1 million, the majority of the people moving here are older and don’t have children and have a tendency to be more conservative.
Plus, the voting system in Florida makes the cheating much more difficult to get away with.
I don’t know how it works in Florida in terms of getting same amendment on the ballot year after year, logic would tell you people begin to lose interest after the first time the amendment is on the ballot and it loses.
Young people that don’t normally vote might show up the first time but if the amendment fails, less of them will show up a 2nd time to vote for it.
Maybe so, but Republicans will never win another election by preaching it.
The good citizens of Ohio, Kentucky, and Virginia shared your optimism until election day last year. Polling in Virginia and Kentucky showed that 60% of voters in those states called “abortion access” the most important question on the ballot.
Florida is less conservative than Ohio or Kentucky, so complacency is not a winning plan.
