My guess is that the Fed’s don’t want to draw attention to a dirty little secret in the trucking industry: Most big trucking companies SUPPORT this kind of surveillance in the industry. The companies already do this sort of thing for their own operations.

It’s the DRIVERS in the industry who are the strongest opponents to these surveillance measures.

In the 1990s, I was an interstate truck driver in the midwest. The best part of the job was “nobody looking over your shoulder”. As long as your pick-ups and deliveries were on time, nobody cared what route you took or what you did in between loads. With the tracking and micro-management these days, I’m glad to be retired.
