The McDonald’s near me put ordering kiosks in. Ordering there is now a confusing mess, for me anyway. It was like programming a rocket to go to the Moon.
So no more McDonald’s for me. Which is actually a very good thing.
Very good, fast inexpensive and surprisingly healthy
Still a great deal at $6.00
Everyhthing else is so expensive I rarely go there any more.
The choice between a Big Mac meal out at McDonalds or a T-Bone o a Ribeye steak cooked at home is a very easy call.
As a Luddite I had never ventured inside McDonald’s to know it was assumed you had to do a kiosk order and you already knew all about it. My one time there was unsettling. I felt like Roddy McDowall as HG Wells in Time After Time (good movie).*
Kindly customer behind me told me I had to choose a seating area booth even if I wasn’t sure. Mandatory line froze up the screen unless I agreed.
Like most computer choices it assumed you already knew choosing the drink without the size meant you weren’t locked into that as a new menu would appear later for the sizes. Stuff like that.
Finally I didn’t properly confirm the order choices and thought I was done could pay later at the pickup counter. No dice. No order was silently being processed unless I confirmed the order on a bottom line I missed seeing. Had to complete the order and start the wait anew.
*HG Wells suddenly in current US bewildered and shaking his head at the newspaper sports headline Rams Maul Bucks.
I was at a meeting until early evening. On the way home (1 hr drive) I stopped at a McDs. Went inside, kiosks only. Only saw a couple staff, both at/near the window. Went back out to my car and got into the drive up. 2 cars ahead of me. The first one was there for over 5 minutes before I decided a couple of overpriced burgers wasn't worth it.
The McDonald’s kiosk is poorly-designed
I’ve used it several times now (often have no choice) - but I don’t really like it
When I can, I still order at the counter - because......coupon
