A Texas appeals court upheld a lower court's injunction Friday blocking the state from investigating parents who provide their children with gender-transitioning treatment.
The appeals court in Austin upheld a district court judge's injunction imposed in March 2022 after Republican Governor Greg Abbott ordered the state Department of Family Protective Services (DFPS) to investigate families whose children were receiving puberty blockers.
"This is a much-needed victory for trans youth and those who love and support them," the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday.

I can’t understand how a court can override the legislature.

The Texas Courts of Appeals are a set of 14 appellate courts in the Texas judicial system with intermediate jurisdiction in civil and criminal cases that are appealed from the lower district or county courts.
All Public Employee’s and Officers in the State with minor children, Shall enroll their children in Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness Training and Gender Inclusiveness programs, beginning at age 8, or be Terminated or stripped of any and all Professional License in Perpetuity.
