The advocacy group Republican Voters Against Trump announced a new six-figure campaign highlighting former Vice President Mike Pence‘s refusal to endorse former President Donald Trump in his 2024 campaign.
The 15-second digital ad is set to run in five battleground states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, while the billboard campaign will be featured in Phoenix, Atlanta, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Milwaukee.
“This is someone who worked with Donald Trump all four years of his presidency. He saw Donald Trump up close and personal every single day,” said John Conway, the group’s director of strategy, in an interview with the Washington Examiner, “and his refusal to endorse Donald Trump should sound the alarm for other voters in the country that Donald Trump is unfit to be president again.”
The group is supported by the Republican Accountability PAC, which has opposed Trump’s bid for another four years in the White Office.
“Mike Pence knows Donald Trump better than anyone else, and he knows how dangerous a second Trump administration would be,” says a narrator in the ad before a clip shows Pence saying he won’t endorse his former running mate.
The former vice president announced last week that he could not support Trump, citing “profound differences” with his one-time boss. “It should come as no surprise that I will not be endorsing Donald Trump this year,” Pence told Fox News’s Martha MacCallum.
Pence remains the most prominent Republican not to back Trump after he became the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.
“Mike Pence joins the ever-growing coalition of Republican Voters Against Trump,” said Gunner Ramer, political director of Republican Voters Against Trump, in a statement. “Pence served as Trump’s vice president for four years. But even he recognizes who Trump really is: A threat to our democracy who is unfit for office. Pence is putting country over party, and we are going to make sure persuadable voters are aware of his decision.”
Other prominent Republicans who have not endorsed him include former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Sen. Susan. Collins (R-ME), and former Secretary of Defense under Trump Mark Esper.
Republican Voters Against Trump announced a $50 million campaign against Trump last week, which will tout video testimonials from voters who previously backed Trump but have refused to support him again.
The ads will also be shown in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin with the hope of convincing enough centrists and independents away from the former president.
“Mike Pence is being courageous. He’s putting country over party. We wanted to make sure that voters across the country know that Mike Pence won’t be endorsing Donald Trump this year,” Conway said. “And so we’re elevating his voice, alongside the voices of everyday Republican voters from across the country who will be doing the same thing.”
I saw the billboard and since I had not yet read this article, the first thing that popped in my head was, "Who is this guy? He looks like Mike Pence, but Pence isn't running for anything." I actually thought this was an attack ad on some non-MAGA guy in the primary. This ad is too wordy for a billboard, and doesn't connect.
The irony is, four years ago I jumped from Cruz to Trump and was very glad for the selection of Pence, thinking that meant that social conservatives had a seat at the table. I have been enlightened on both Pence and Trump since then.
Pence is at best a cipher.
Time slips by...8 years ago
Mike Pence WORDS & DEEDS.
Pence can hate Trump for how things went down for them at the end of 2020, but I’m sorry. If Pence is de facto urging the re-election of Joe Biden, then he hates the country just as much as he hates Trump. And that’s unforgivable. Eight years ago, I wouldn’t have pegged him for a treacherous Mitt Romney type, but here we are.
Mr. Pence reminds me of the recent news conferences re MV Dali and the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
The conferences begin with a run down of every agency and her brother.
Now days, given that there are more departments in the Federal Government than . . .
Takes a while, waiting for the news and info, before the “institutional speakers” get to the point.
There must be some “policy” that requires all agencies and agents to acknowledge one another before denying that something is wrong.
But, but, he is a good Christian man. A good Christian that wants the degeneracy and destruction to continue. Lying sack of sh*t.
“Mike Pence hates MAGA folks too - all 77 million of us. He’s pissed and he’s taking his ball home with him.
May he go straight to hell.
The anti-Trump group backed by billionaires Reid Hoffman, Seth Klarman and John Pritzker is launching a $50 million ad campaign featuring disaffected Trump voters.
Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn and a prolific Democratic donor, is one of the Republican Accountability PAC’s biggest backers, donating $2 million in both January and June last year, according to Federal Election Commission filings that show his $4 million accounts for half of what the group raised last year.
Klarman, who runs the Boston-based Baupost hedge fund and is a vocal Trump critic who has donated to both parties, gave $1 million to the group in May last year.
Pritzker, of the billionaire family that founded Hyatt hotels, gave a total of $1 million to the group through two $500,000 donations in June and November last year.
Founded during the 2020 campaign, Republican Voters Against Trump is ramping up its anti-Trump efforts as the former president is now the de facto Republican nominee.
oh this guy.What a putz.
Just a love fest to promote themselves.
“disaffected”
People who bought an EV.
“Pence is at best a cipher.”
More like a fool. It will be Biden or Trump and Pence isn’t much of a Christian if he prefers someone who hates Christians and who wants to drive us underground!
Yeah he had some values in common with social conservitives but lacked the backbone to follow through.
What do you mean by “how things went down for them”? Like not stopping the fraud . . . ? (Pence was in on the fraud.)
Agree, Right Brother. Well-stated.
He does not have such values. One’s word is meaningless; one’s deeds are what reflect one’s values.
So this asswipe is now for Biden?
Judas Pence face on a billboard will enrage MAGA and drive even more to the polls.
Let them make their case.
